I am a believer that ethics are subjective, due to issues of epistomology (what we can and cannot know). Once we make assumptions on what we know, we then must make statements on our purpose. Once both what is known and purpose are defined, a system of ethics can be laid out. Of course, different people will make different assumptions on epistemology and different assumptions on purpose, so people's ethical systems will vary.

That being said, there are certain situations where we can come close to definitively saying that one action is better than another, due to basic assumptions that we all make (i.e. that we exist).

You're a walking contradiction.

If you believed ethics were subjective then you would never have bothered to argue with me or even post here. Subjective is: I like chocolate ice cream. To which you naturally stand up and yell "NO! That is wrong! Strawberry is the correct choice" -- Except that you don't, because choice of icecream favour is not something that can be objectively right or wrong, it is subjective. Thus, if ethics were subjective (or if you truly believed that they were) then there would be no reason to object to anything said about ethics.

And if you believed epistemology was subjective then you would post and say nothing at all.

And LOL: Assuming we exist? Wtf sort of sophist nonsense is this. In order to assume anything one first has to ACKNOWLEDGE existence and that one exists. These are not assumptions because they are concrete facts inductively and irrefutable deductively (axioms).

I'm not sucking dick right now, but your debating skills are fucking phenomenal.

No. Selling duped gold was not against the rules.

You need to go back and RE-READ what I have written.

Let me spell it out for you because clearly you are mental retarded.

A fraud is an intentional [criminal] deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual.

This is not the same as selling duped gold. Do you see the difference?

Let me reiterate: If you sell me a banana under pretence that it is an apple, then this is illegal. THIS DOES NOT MAKE THE SELLING OF BANANAS ILLEGAL.

IQ = 3.

Go to a dictionary: look up: fraud, look up: idiom, look up: idiot. Close the dictionary, throw your computer out the window, apply for a job cleaning toilets.

Clean those toilets son clean those toilets.

Prove to me that I exist beyond reasonable doubt and I'll send you a $1000. You dont even have to give me a donation rank.
Even Descartes "I think therefore I am" has been disregarded by modern philosophers. You wont find a chair of a top university philosophy department that believes she has 100% proof we exist.

And, no, I am not a walking contradiction. I can still posit my arguments based on common assumptions we both make. That does not make ethics objective.

Lol, no they didn't. ( They paid back a tiny, publicised, amount. Research all the bad debt purchased and kept by governments as just one small branch of the massive gov't debt bailout bubble. Here's a recent link: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-...illion-in-mortgage-securities-each-month.html ) And even if they had: Where did that interest money come from? Well from the exercise of their monopoly banking privilege and the fraudulent practice of fractional reserve banking.
Quantitative Easing is to control interest rates. It is done mostly with assets of commercial banks, and is done for the benefit of the american individual. Those who disagree with the way the system works can vote for someone who does not support the federal reserve banking system (i.e. Ron Paul), or run themselves and garner support of likeminded individuals.
That is how representative democracy works. I know you're no fan of government, but this is a widely supported system of how politics should be run.

In short, if you ran a company the way ANY bank is run, you'd be in jail. They are operating insolvently and every time a problem crops up with their accounts the gov't steals money from you to pay for the problem.
Then why aren't the people who run banks in jail? Trading while insolvent is illegal in many countries. Leveraging does not make one insolvent, and large banks only tend to risk insolvency in economic crises (such as in 2008). Those that do are allowed to fail, or saved for the benefit of the system, and ultimately, the individual. Again, this decision is made by democratic representatives.

Even if I am wrong on my argument regarding the ethics of QE and bailouts: the fact of the matter is that you would have to prove that the government has an ownership claim to the bank in question, and that the ownership claim gives you, as a taxpayer, the right to "cash out" at any time you desire.
I would argue that there government has no ownership claim over the banks, and even if it did, the individal taxpayer does not have the moral right to cash out when she pleases.

Too easy. If you did not exist you could not ask your question:
To ask a question implies some thing to do the asking, and that thing must necessarily exist in order for the question to have been asked. The question was asked, therefore the questioner exists.

That's not even beyond a reasonable doubt, it's deductively certain:
1. A question cannot be asked without the existence of a questioner. (Non-existence cannot create existence.)
2. A question has been asked.
3. A questioner exists.

Further, any counter-argument you make will reinforce it further (I.e. you must exist in order to put forth a counter-argument.)

To elaborate, let's go to the great Ayn Rand; the smoky goddess of rationalist philosophy:
Existence exists—and the act of grasping that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceives and that one exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists.

If nothing exists, there can be no consciousness: a consciousness with nothing to be conscious of is a contradiction in terms. A consciousness conscious of nothing but itself is a contradiction in terms: before it could identify itself as consciousness, it had to be conscious of something. If that which you claim to perceive does not exist, what you possess is not consciousness.

Whatever the degree of your knowledge, these two—existence and consciousness—are axioms you cannot escape, these two are the irreducible primaries implied in any action you undertake, in any part of your knowledge and in its sum, from the first ray of light you perceive at the start of your life to the widest erudition you might acquire at its end. Whether you know the shape of a pebble or the structure of a solar system, the axioms remain the same: that it exists and that you know it.

To exist is to be something, as distinguished from the nothing of nonexistence, it is to be an entity of a specific nature made of specific attributes. Centuries ago, the man who was—no matter what his errors—the greatest of your philosophers, has stated the formula defining the concept of existence and the rule of all knowledge: A is A. A thing is itself. You have never grasped the meaning of his statement. I am here to complete it: Existence is Identity, Consciousness is Identification.
