No.
1. First, value is mostly subjective. This is why trades work at all. They value what you have over what they have, and you value what they have over what you have.
2. You should not sacrifice your values for the value of others.
3. If they lack the intelligence or virtue to recognise the inherent value of a thing then it is aesthetically preferable (but certainly not a moral requirement) that it pass to someone who values it / will take care of it.

Banks operate by monopoly privilege of the state and can print money and credit out of thin air and when they make financially bad mistakes the state robs you to refill their coffers. No stealing pens from banks is not immoral. In fact they are your pens. Take them, take them all.

Napkins are provided free of charge with meals. If the restaurant wants you to have only one then they will provide only one.

Any gift is fine to use. A gift is exactly that: unconditional exchange of property in return for nothing.

Unfair is not the same as immoral. If you paid to see a performance and there is a better way to see it without harming anyone else, then there is nothing immoral about this.

Taking credit for things you did not do is immoral. And likewise taking blame for things you were not responsible for is also immoral. It is immoral because it is a form of fraud.

Certainly not. You are not obligated to lend anything to anyone. You are not here to sacrifice your values to others. You are not a slave. You did not ask to be born, you do not owe anyone anything without first consenting / voluntarily agreeing to something.

If it is offensive to you / a violation of your values. Yes. It would be moral cowardice not to.

No. Violation of privacy. Children are people and should have the same rights as everyone else. Hitting them is not ok. Going through their stuff is not ok. Taking their property is not ok.

This depends on whether or not the company has stolen from you. If you are recovering your own property by whatever means then it is not immoral. If you are stealing from the company then it is immoral.

There's my replies.

As I said, people should be researching / reading ethics. They are important for your everyday life and for your business here on sythe.org.

Sythe, this is why you're the best debater I've known, you can rationalise anything to a point where it is futile to try to disagree with your contention.

Value is subjective, but if you believe that they can get more out of it than they are selling it for, then it would be nice to tell them. I do not think it would be immoral not to tell them, however.

A) If the banks provide the pens to be taken as advertisement, then not immoral. If clear the pens should not be taken, i.e. attached to a wire, then yes, immoral.
Sythe's point regarding the fact that the people should have the right to steal from the bank is invalid. Even if you have moral qualms with the way our government (representative democracy) works, the banks paid back their bailouts, with interest.
B) No. The napkins are meant to be taken, unless explicitly stated that only 1 napkin should be taken, then immoral.

Yes. You owe them nothing. It is an advertisement strategy on their part. They go to waste if you don't use them.

Fairness does not necessarily equal morality. However, I would strongly contest Sythe's claim (with most of western thought on my side), that they are mutually exclusive ideas. I believe that yes, it is unfair because you did not pay for the seats and have an unfair comparative advantage. Personally, I view it as immoral as well, although this is debatable.

You should accept the praise, but credit your partner for his share of the work.

I do not believe so. Again, this depends on the system of ethics you follow. There is a utilitarian Princeton philosophy professor who sends over 90% of his income to charities that benefit poor people as he believes everyone being fed provides much more utility than his living in a slightly bigger house.

I do not think so. Under my conception of morality, offensive jokes are critical to happiness when used in moderation. However, if it truly insulting or promoting strong negative values, you may feel obligated to say something.

I believe it is, assuming they have it open, as it is their responsibility to stop people behind them from looking if they care that much. If it is not open, then it is probably not the best thing to do, although I would consider this petty and not to do with morality, per se.

If you thought his actions were virtuous and you truly believe he would be unfairly punished due to inefficiencies in the company's rules, then yes. Otherwise, you should not.

I am a believer that ethics are subjective, due to issues of epistomology (what we can and cannot know). Once we make assumptions on what we know, we then must make statements on our purpose. Once both what is known and purpose are defined, a system of ethics can be laid out. Of course, different people will make different assumptions on epistemology and different assumptions on purpose, so people's ethical systems will vary.

That being said, there are certain situations where we can come close to definitively saying that one action is better than another, due to basic assumptions that we all make (i.e. that we exist).

Maybe, but not because of this.
I'm a very non-competitive person. I just really enjoy intellectual debate. I'm not trying to prove I'm smarter than he is or anything...sorry if you take it that way

If I put up a humility test will you take it?

Sythe's point regarding the fact that the people should have the right to steal from the bank is invalid. Even if you have moral qualms with the way our government (representative democracy) works, the banks paid back their bailouts, with interest.

Lol, no they didn't. ( They paid back a tiny, publicised, amount. Research all the bad debt purchased and kept by governments as just one small branch of the massive gov't debt bailout bubble. Here's a recent link: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-...illion-in-mortgage-securities-each-month.html ) And even if they had: Where did that interest money come from? Well from the exercise of their monopoly banking privilege and the fraudulent practice of fractional reserve banking.

The banks are an arm of the state, they have the exclusive right to write cheques against their own accounts which contain nothing but debt, and call it money. They can buy any asset they like. They can also borrow money at almost zero % interest and then re-sell those loans to you at 10-20%.

In short, if you ran a company the way ANY bank is run, you'd be in jail. They are operating insolvently and every time a problem crops up with their accounts the gov't steals money from you to pay for the problem.

So no. It is not immoral to take those pens, you already paid for them.
