Litecoin (LTC) Segwit Activation

Segwit was activated today.

I've got a handful of LTC atm, seeing how crypto users/ investors react to segwit today. Litening coming (potentially).

 

As a crypto asset holder, you need to ask yourself what innovation does LTC bring other than Segwit which isn't unique once other coins inevitably adopt it as well. I view LTC as a rumor mill. Whatever the price is, it's a dead coin to me. Just remember to sell before the (massive) dump so you aren't a bagholder. I see this as nothing more than a huge pump.

 

any opinion on Litening?

 

LN again, will eventually be adopted by most coins that have voted in favor of Segwit as well. Payment channels are going to be the norm. But why would I value just that feature on a coin that has otherwise been relatively dead on terms of development if Ethereum will get Raiden this year?

 

No doubt that more competition will more than likely diminish LTC profits, but seems that they're going out and getting things crypto users want while others are taking forever to adapt or choose not to adapt.

 

Does your gut tell you that you'll see real world use case traction gaining due to segwit+LN or do you think it's more likely that whales that have accumulated vast amounts over the course of about 2 years and plan to use the hype around these terms in the crypto/speculator community to pump to epic proportions. I just don't see why financial markets, corporations, governments or even every day consumers would opt to use LTC over other available choices.

 

Hmmm...DDOS stemming from the live transactions that LTC will allow compared to others?

 

Just reading that now actually. If DDOS comes to be a problem to LN, and LN disincentives by increasing blocksizes or varied structures, would that ultimately lead to slower transactions? Or is it because the margin of error increases for ddosers? or neither of those lol. Fairly new to this stuff.

Dropped as low as $29 and gotten as high as $32 (so far). I'm going to wait it out a little longer. These fluctuations are somewhat scary to me since this is my first cyrpto investment.

I bought in when it was around $25 per coin.

 

$25 was a risky move. It actually hit $26.50 very early in the AM of May 11th. If this is your first crypto investment, here's a tip for any future ones... Buy the rumor, sell the hype. LTC segwit/LN is done and over with, it's been long priced in. I missed out on the XRP and LTC rally recently and it doesn't bother me one bit because my crypto portfolio is solid regardless. Make sure you plan your exit sells, the dump will be a massacre. Every LTC pump from 2014 had a parabolic rise, followed by huge crashes and long periods of inactivity.

 

I must've missed that low of 26.50 today then. Yikes.

Very good analogy and that makes complete sense now. LN/Segwit have been factored into the price for couple days now. I've seen how previous LTC market reactions occur, will be curious to see if it would drop nearly as low as it has been previously.

 

It's down 17% atm so looks like the tank incoming.

 

yeah i got rid of it yesterday at its peak lol.
