your view on No Lifing

No lifing - the notorious subject of which all [hardcore/addicted] gamers end up facing at some point throughout their gaming career.

What is no lifing?

No lifing is when you deprive yourself of numerous activities in life, these can include:

Skipping meals
Not showering
Not socialising
Not changing clothes
Not moving for prolonged periods of time
Junk/unhealthy eating
Hiding away from the world
There is a lot more other things accosiated with no lifing which do not need to be mentioned.

Problems associated with with no lifing:

Irregular sleeping habits
Underachieving in school/college/university
Body changes
From experience, none of these help in any way. I have fallen behind dramatically in school coursework, which will take a long time to catch up on. This includes 4 pieces of English coursework, 2 whole Graphics projects, and a month piece of ICT coursework.

Stories associated with no lifing:

DEATH! - Yes, someone has died from no lifing. A WoW player named "Snowly" died after continuously playing the game for days on end with no rest at all, and thus ended up dying of fatigue. In honour of her death, an online funeral was held in game, only to be overshadowed by another gamers death, named "Nan Ren Gu Shi".

NAPPIES! - Yes, there are some people who are so addicted to online gaming, that they wear nappies so that they don't have to move from their seat. This is mostly associated with gold farming, as reported a while ago, young children in China were being forced to sit at computer screens wearing diapers, so that they could gold farm, accumulate the money and then sell the gold made to people willing to buy it.

Has anyone done anything about it?

NO! - Apart from the government in China, where they have implemented an Anti-Addiction/Fatigue system on some games where they are only able to have 3 hours of online gaming per day.

My View:

My view on no lifing is that it is a horrible thing that gamers experience, it deprives them of self respect, and they feel the need to constantly play computer games rather than socialise. I have had previous experiences with no lifing, especially on school nights, where i would sit up all night on RuneScape or my Xbox 360 and game instead of sleeping, and then i would underachieve in school the next day, as i would not take in anything i was meant to be learning. I have actually realised how much of an idiot i was for doing this, and i have actually started realising what is more important in life than gaming. And tonight, i will be no lifing as i have drunked 3 cans of Emerge in the past 10 minutes, which will put a decent amount of caffeine into my system which will keep me awake.

I hope you actually answer this in a mature manner, as this is a serious issue that is not to be taken lightly.

Games are some people's lives.

 

I've had some nights that I just wouldn't go to bed and stay up all night gaming, but those are pretty rare. (Next day you feel like shit anyway)

 

I've done this before and I must admit I find it fun, especially the nappy side of it. You just gotta feel the feeling of warm shit dribbling out of that soft cotton before you may disagree.

 

I used to no life quite a bit back when I played World of Warcraft. I'd say the longest I've played is 12 hours straight of WoW but with meal breaks. When I used to play runescape I have also gone 12 hours straight with one meal break.

 

No lifing is ftw, but not too often, maybe only on weekends or so.

 

I know it's a terrible thing to do but fuck I mean when you have a couple of friends over and you're all just no lifing it up its sooo much fun

I can't no-life unless I have friends playing with me (IRL friends) I can't stand a couple of days without leaving the house but I definitely have all those symptoms.

5am-noon is probably the best sleep time as you're not sleeping too long and nobody does anything until after noon anyways.


Something needs to be done to limit this as I know people who have dropped out of school to play WoW, runescape and even halo. People say "let people do what they want" well taxpayers don't support welfare and the government sure doesn't want money wasted on it. Playing too many video games = less education and less time working, meaning less money made meaning more financial support.

 

I no lifed for 99 str and range.

Only did it for like a week though from 75. 1 week per skill. It's fun i guess. As long as you don't go overboard.
