I've had an idea, though this shouldn't really be the resting place for it. I wanted to see some feedback and perhaps support for my idea.

My idea involves the ability to *bot, with restriction and without infraction. When you create your account, somewhere in the membership section you should be able to choose an option that registers your account that it is intended to be botted on. It costs you more, per month. And here are the restrictions;

- Player is unable to do methods of what would be considered gold farming.
- Player has their xp/hr/day capped.
- Player is unable to achieve ranks on the high scores ( though their stats will be shown )
- Player must wait at least 3 months to have their bot status revoked.
- Player's name will be tagged with a *bot title.

I can't really see the issue with that, I know bots are considered a leech to the community, and ruining the economy but ultimately without bots the community would've died a while back. And you'd be lucky to see 10k+ players online @ peak, in my opinion.

Please add some suggestions, or rip mine apart as you see fit. Or tell me to shut the fuck up if you find it necessary.

Its a cool idea. But it would never come to fruition, Jagex will never succumb to the community and this would be doing exactly that.

 

That would require Jagex to make their own bots, and with their recent successes against stopping bots, they don't have any reason to.

 

They want people to enjoy playing their game. Not botting.

Don't like the idea, personally I think they should just relax on the hard core botting bans on mains and focus on goldfarming.

 

Thats like saying "its okay to speed, but only if your old"

 

Not necessarily, someone trying to go from 88-89 ranged overnight doesn't have the same affect on the community as someone goldfarming overnight.

To rephrase your comparison, it's like doing 33 in a 30 compared to a 60 in a 30.

 

It's not about the bans, it's about sending a message.
