A lot of artists out there claim that a certain style or work of "pure originality!" is 100% theirs, which is not usually the case. A majority of designers have adapted the style they have now by either watching people on youtube, other designers off of sythe, etc. Fair argument? Or are a majority of styles original?

Note: Not bashing on people who have similar styles to one another, or "calling out" anybody. Just curious as to where people adapt their styles from

I'd say it is pretty rare to be 100% original in anything, not just graphics. I mean, why not aspire to be like the greats? It is a good thing, in my opinion, to be similar to others or what sells when it comes to graphics. I could have my own style of using MS Paint but that wouldn't sell. It also isn't good to make carbon-copies of others so add your own flair or techniques to your work.

100% agree with you, but theres so many youtubers that ive seen (not naming names) that have said "this is my original style", like you said, thats really really hard to come across considering how high in demand graphics are today

I'd have to say no, our styles can't be 100% original as we adapt and absorb with what we see. Even some big Manga artists admitted that their drawing styles have been inspired by so and so. When you see something on Youtube, don't just rip it, take something from it, and apply it in your own way.

Learning and evolving yourself/style shouldn't be considered a bad thing, that way, eventually you develop your own style.

You can't be, you start of learning by replicating alot of stuff you see here and there, applying it in the right fashion creates your own style.
