Your reflection is Evil - #1

An Extract from a book written a few years after mirrors were invented.

    Mirrors
    1

The images we see in the mirror are the pure incarnates of evil. They are only allowed to exist in the area reflected in the glass. To them, life is like a neverending hell, rotting away in the same room day after day. The only release from this purgatory is death, and the only way for them to die, sad to say, is if YOU die.

Fortunately, they are bound by a code. You are their master, and they must mirror your every movement and expression. To do otherwise would break an unbreakable law, unravelling the space-time continuum. However, there is a loophole, and it can only be triggered by you, the master. To force them into error is to free them from their contract; after you let them out of your view, you're on your own. Know this: when you watch them, they're watching you back. They're watching. And they're thinking.

The next time you're alone in your room, turn down the lights. Think of something on your body that varies in length, such as hair. It must be clearly viewable from your perspective. Grab a ruler and, looking in the mirror, quickly grab a hair at random; you must confuse it. Hold it in position as best you can and note the length. Look down. Yours will be different.

    Don't look back up.

Don't turn your back to that mirror ever again.
    3

The next time you wake up groggy and tired, don't move. Take a glance at your mirror; if you're lucky, you might catch a smile.
    4

All mirrors are actually windows to another world.

This world cannot be reached, and shouldn't be reached, as all our mirror-selves are extremely malicious.

Try watching the edge of the mirror after sneaking into a room.

If you're good enough, you can see your reflection, pressing against the glass.

Ever wonder why the vampire myths say they don't cast reflections in mirrors?

    That's because a mirror isn't a mirror to them. It's a door.

Don't delve deep into their business, do not draw their attention, do not invite their wrath. And if you do, cover every single mirror you own.

Wanna try something funny? You have to be really patient to pull this off. Get a mirror. Start staring at it. Well, you can do anything you want, just DON'T get your eyes off it. After a few hours your reflection gets fed up with mimicing your moves and just sort of walks away... And no, it's not coming back.

I once was siezed by a fit of choking while brushing my teeth. I looked up, bleary-eyed to see my reflection was not in the mirror: at the same time, I felt an irresistible pull into it. I spread my arms as I was lifted off the floor and slammed into it (destroying the mirror in the process). I managed to grab the walls beside the mirror, but for one brief instant, I saw my reflection lying on the other side, twitching in the throes of death. This is only the most violent of the many things that have occurred to me near mirrors. On watch in Great Lakes RTC, I watched in the reflection on the glass in front of me as a sailor in the uniform of the 1940's walked up beside me to the watch station, looked at me, shrugged, and stood beside me. I said, "I have the watch tonight, shipmate, get some sleep", and he looked at me, surprised, then turned and walked up the stairs. Of course, I don't have to mention that when I turned to address him, I couldn't see him, do I? I have seen a mouthless woman beckoning to me, figures behind me, hands clawing desperately at the frames of the mirror. I have looked up and seen myself: sometimes without a beard, sometimes with contacts, and a few times my left eye seems to have been lost to what appears to be a knife slash.

A friend once told me of a specific small village in Spain where you are able to see something VERY special - he saw it himself. There is one house inhabited by a family - but usually after 16 o'clock, they tend to leave the house altogether to visit the family's friends and have something to eat, since the house is not that well kept and they seem to not like any visitors around it. However, after they've left, you are able to sneak into it through the backdoor - in the bathroom, you will find two mirrors together hanging on the wall. The first one is just a normal mirror, but the second one - if you look at it in a special mirror, you are able to see a ghostly moving image of a wood - my friend swears that it was like a window. He also swears that he saw two white unicorns graze.

Don't look in public restroom mirrors too long. They get curious, and start looking back.

If you look in to a mirror, you will see a video from the future of exactly what you did the moment you looked at the mirror.

It is said that every mirrored surface is a gateway to the realm where our reflections live and are forced to do everything we do. If you ever see the reflection of someone you know beside your own within a mirror, their double will soon come to take them from you. If you look into a mirror and see your own reflection is missing, run. Run until you can see yourself in the windows of the buildings and the puddles on the street. No one can go over and come back. Except for in one place. Deep in a romanian forest there is a pool that never has a wave on it's surface, no matter how hard the wind is blowing, or even if you throw a rock into it. Fill your pockets with shiny white stones and wade into the water until it is above your head and wait until you can't hold your breath any longer. Empty your pockets of all the stones before you reach the surface and you will be in the mirror realm. Find your double there where your home should be, and kill them. If you do so you sacrifice your reflection for twice the potential of any other human.
