I was Planning on building/buying a new computer and i was wondering what cpu i should get

SO i my question is what kind/who makes yours, and also you GHz

Well i personallyu never reccomend that you build you build your own computer unless you have experience...

But to be more useful an average computer has 3.0-4.0ghz

There are also CPU's that are dual core and quad core:
A dual core is basicly 2 CPU's in 1 so if its 2.5GHz it will really be 5GHz
A Quad is the same but 4 CPU's in 1 so 2.5Ghz=10GHz

How much do you want to spend on a computer? ill recommend a good one.

2.0 ghz ocd (temps to high) Im a dual core peep. im getting a better cooler so I can go higher.

ok been researching and went to dell to build my new comp and came up with

Memory 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

Video Cards Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 IV [320-4284]

Hard Drives 320GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

Sound Cards Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

Processor Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4500 (2.2GHz, 800 FSB)

Windows xp

Total = $1,088.91

Yeh im in need of a new computer, 2GHZ Amd 64 but flies like a rocket :) 1.25gb ram.. :P

Anyways - Shop around and compare prices, basically build the one that you like best.. Test them out. And good luck :D

http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-A615...4-7900067?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1194675832&sr=1-37
If your gona be spending around $1000 for a computer you gota get a quad core.

Dude that computers worse and your paying more.....

Based on its .1GHz faster and 100+GB of hard drive smaller and your paying an extra $100

because WinterDreamZ4 couldent figure that out

i reackon dual core and quad core both suck the one AMD processer with high speed like 4000+ is way faster

Dude, just get the most expensive one you can afford from pc world, thats always the best.

Here's my new System. Building it at the moment.
AMD X2 5200+ CPU (2*2.6Ghz, 2MB L2 cache) (I'll OC it to around 2.9Ghz)
400GB SATAII Samsung Spinpoint, 3Gb/s 16Mb Cache
GigaByte GA-M55S-S3 (Rev 2.0) AM2
430W Delux PSU
Omni Gamer Case
2*1GB DDR2 800Mhz Low Latency 4-4-4-12 RAM with heat spreader

Going to cost me around AU$650

Funnily enough it beats all the above Systems that are in US. I do get slight deals though.
