Years of Moderation

Sythe is down from an average of 7 pages of spam reports a day to 3. I thought that was interesting and made a chart:



I decided that was also interesting so I made some more charts:

 

But this doesn't make any sense! Sythe has told us that we're still doing the same in our google ratings! Oh it's just a seasonal thing and it'll pick up!


The market may be doing fine currently but the community isn't.

 

I was going to do the market too but it has changed so many times that I didn't think I'd find proper results.

Moving forward... Pretty interesting graph. 2014 was definitely a bad year for Sythe.

 

Its probably because RS sucks and hasnt gotten any NEW players im forever, sure they got a lot of folks that came back for 07' but most realized it sucks too.

Its shitty graphics and gameplay simply cant compete with modern MMO's or other live games.

People just know how to spam better, and get away, these days.

The sf thing was probably due to most of the regulars getting banned and possibly sand box (I dont remember when it was out). RS gen is down because rs has been on a decline since and idb isn't active anymore. I'm surprised RS sections performed poorly even with the release of 07.

Despite the amount of denial this really isn't surprising. This site is tied to Runescape. I came here, after years of looking at sythe threads when googling rs questions. Eventually I found myself on the homepage and thought it was interesting enough to join. I'm sure many others came in the same way.

Yea. I did not take into account the sand box. If I were crazy and / or Govind I would be able to come up with better numbers through SQL queries or data mining. But when you are hand counting shit it gets boring.

 

The results of heavy moderation, not listening to the community, poor decisions by the staff, and not allowing free speech. I guarantee it has a large part to do with the decrease in activity, I don't think Sythe is a very welcoming place anymore.

 

The community has never had much say and it used to be very active anyway.

 

Haven't been here for long so I never have known much activity compared to what it seems it used to be, but I believe it's because we are solely focused on Runescape which is not acquiring any new members. Though, you can't really change that.

 

Well we have the same spam report levels from 09, more or less so there is activity somewhere. There may be more subsections now that are diluting the statistics and I did not even touch the market since it has changed so much I wouldn't be able to make a comparison.

 

Still that's only a small part. Nobody wants to be on a forum that doesn't let you post what you want and bans you and you get punished all the time. Poor decisions by staff members for not allowing active members back into the community. Worrying to much about people being scammed (For what, $20.00) , it's the internet, people live and learn. Way to much criticism and insulting all around the forum by reputable members. There's really no new additions being added, and RS is losing popularity.

With RS activity decreasing and no effective additions being added, it's up to the community members that don't trade to keep the site active. As far as I know there's not any motive or point to doing that. The forum could only run for so long on RS's popularity, now it's starting to depend on the structure of the community, and it's failing. Also Sythe has been tied to RS for so long obviously a decrease in popularity of RS means a decrease in activity on Sythe. Until more additions and reworks are made in the trading market and Sythe decides to stop caring so much and starts letting people do what they want the site will keep losing activity.

 

Moderation has been pretty good this year. I remember when you would get infracted left and right in the past, but now all you get is a warning or your posts are deleted. Out of the whole year, there was only one incident of horrible moderation (think we all know about that).

OT: For the most part the moderators do a good job. The community is declining though.

 

I seem to hardly get punished and the staff have banned people for the most asinine reasons for years. They are not going to stop.
