    Xbox 360 Open Tray Errors

First off, don't go telling me the 'Call Microsoft, use your warranty' run of the mill stuff.

This is a semi-common error with the 360 in which the 360 does not even recognize a game being inserted leaving it showing 'Open Tray'.

I've followed the guides on support.microsoft.com and they haven't worked. I'm not down with paying $100 + shipping fixing my Xbox, not to mention they randomly banned my other one.

Try switching games, i doubt it's the tray issue. Anytime I've encountered this problem it was something on the game's part, and upon returning it to the store and getting a new one it was fixed.

I'm sure he's smart enough to have tried that. Try thinking before posting lawl, or at least posting on threads you have valid input that requires more than just common sense.

Feren, I had this same issue in January with an arcade I got in October (had to get it because they also randomly banned me for no reason). I had to use my store warranty to get a new one because everything I looked up online suggested it was an issue with your drive that would require opening the console up/voiding the warranty. How old is this Xbox btw? Did you always have two, or did you get it to replace your old one that was banned? If it's still in warranty, you might not have many other options.

Think before posting? read before posting. I clearly said that I had the same problem and showed him what was wrong. This could be a wide array of issues, mattjew...

    *cough* idiot

Anyways, see if you still have your warranty and send it to microsoft. They might fix it for free and within a week.

Yeah, except your problem =/= his problem. Yours was a disc issue. His problem is his actual drive being defective. He made that clear, but you obviously didn't understand that (much like you don't understand anything you post about in this section, suck up less and only post about things you have knowledge of). Feren isn't stupid, I'm sure he tried multiple discs before asking for help. Anybody with common sense would.

    Already tried.
    Microsoft's warranty is expired.
Bought over eBay nearly two years ago.

Warranty is void. It was made in like late 2007.
My other 360 is banned, which I never replaced.

Nah. $99.99 flat fee for any fix from them. I could get one cheaper on eBay or run the risk of going to some random's house for a fix.

Eh. It's a pain in the ass, these 360's just fall apart. I'm seriously contemplating a hop over to PS3.

I would give it a clean, or just try different games (I'm assuming you have, you seem like an intelligent person). Try cleaning your game's too. Have you tried DVD's and CD's aswell? This should help you work out if it is a problem with reading games, or whether it is actually the disc reader is actually broken. This happend to my mate, and he had to get the disc reader replaced.
