Because there are other purchases of 75K$ that will last longer and bring in bigger benefits. That's why not now.

It's a theoretical question, if 75K was no object then why not, just for a hobby, lol

That would be about 100k per coder per year, after taxes and other costs.

.............. are you kidding? A lot of people out there would code for a couple hours a night as a hobby for a small % of the advertising. You wouldn't need an actual full-time employee to do it 9-5, lol'd.

The quality would be beyond shit and if you were to actually want to do much of anything you would need many more hours than you think.

Look what Govind's done for the site; lots of nifty additions. If he were allowed server access he could knock out the whole ToDo list, probably - and he does it for free. If he were paid it would be more. As I say, anything is better than nothing.

His additions are generally fairly small. Any major changes take much more effort and time.

Lol you're stubborn af. Yeah you can purchase Sythe, but why purchase something that has an iffy future that is purely based off a game that might erode to nothing within 5 years or so.

But better than nothing? Yep. Could make the site friendlier, niftier and broaden it's contents? Yep.

It doesn't need to climb Everest and become everything under the sun. New features constantly being introduced and improved. Hell, even suggestions that need upper-assistance being added would help the site in more ways than one.

If 75K was pocket change, why not? Just a bit of fun

But if 75K was the equivalent of a dollar bill in your pocket, why would you care about profit? Not everything in life has to be about profit. If I buy a new games console, I'm not profiting financially solely from gaming for fun. If I go on holiday, I'm not profiting financially.

    Just a pass-time for enjoyment.

He is saying that if he had "unlimited" money it would be fun to buy it, for its entertainment value. If he lost it all it wouldn't matter since it was only an investment in entertainment. If it gained value, it would just be a perk of the entertainment, like gambling.

Originally you were focused on the profit aspect so that's where I was getting that from.

If it was for a hobby and you'd choose doing this over many other things with 75K$, then yes Sythe is for you ;)

You'd still make money on it, was all I was sayan. And obviously if you're spending 75K on a small forum then I'd assume you'd have a lot to waste :p

If I only had 75K then no, I wouldn't buy it

I'd invest with maybe one or two other people to buy rights to the site, I wouldn't just buy it myself.

This website (the value one) is wrong on so many levels. It valued my school site at $20,000 saying it gets 4,000 visitors a day. Considering my school has a population of 600 that's highly doubtful. There's no way Sythe is worth only $75,000, it would never sell for that much, most likely higher. What's the logic behind selling something for 75,000 if it's annual revenue is over 60,000?...
