World DDoSing/Targeted DDoSing

Didn't see a discussion thread on this so I figured i'd make it.

It's no secret as to the three main groups doing it (2 of them more so than the third) and there's been dozens of videos uploaded over time on youtube of evidence against these groups. Some have even made it on SML and there used to be some on Chris Archie before he became a JMOD because obviously he would just get comments of people asking why he wasn't having it taken care of and i'm sure he doesn't want that lol.

Currently it seems like there's nothing Jagex is doing about it... Perhaps because they're incapable or perhaps because they just don't want to spend the money.

Thoughts on this situation?

Also targeted DDoSing isn't really relevant since I meant it as the DDoSing of an individual player as opposed to world DDoSing, but the group most connected with world DDoSing has also had proof uploaded against them of them DDoSing individuals as well.

But yeah, thoughts on this? Will it be fixed? Will Jagex do anything about the people responsible?

Hopefully these new servers they are installing will fix it. I'm fine with rwting but you've crossed the line when you ddos to make money. It's extremely pathetic and those hours those players have spent on getting those items goes all to waste. The OSRS team will eventually say something about it. Knowing them it will be in March or April.

For the targeted DDoSing, I understand that, but what is to be gained from DDoSing a world, gold wise? Jagex can't do anything about players not protecting themselves against DDoS, but if there is a way for these attackers to get gold from ddosing worlds, Jagex's best move would be to fix that instead of taking additional expense on their servers.

My wording wasn't the best. They're always targeting someone be it a specific person in the wilderness or them just hitting off worlds at Godwars/other public bosses and looting items from people who die.

By targeted DDoSing I meant them having the specific player's IP address and individually DDoSing them as opposed to hitting off the world and killing that person/having them.

It's mainly DP/Italians, SV, and AC doing it. In order from who is most responsible for it happening to who does it less than the other two. If you follow SparcMacLive there's hardly a week where DP/Italians aren't on there for DDoSing someone or hitting the world off to kill someone (or sometimes multiple users).

People gain money from world ddossing by ddossing then logging on right after to kill the people dcing. There are vids on SML. Its really stupid tbh.

but i am sure if they are smart enough to world ddos im sure they know how to evade /ip/Mac bans
IF they get banned i can see them comming back with even more intention on doing it.
However i don't even play os Just for this reason.

It's a very easy fix that costs a lot of money that Jagex isn't inclined to spending.

"Smart" has nothing to do with world DDoSing. It's a bunch of high school dropouts who invested a year's salary into a cheap botnet that is stronger than the protection they have on each world.

Not only this but to my knowledge Jagex rarely hands out ip/macbans since as opposed to P servers, it's a lot harder to get a decent account on 07. Once their maxed accounts are banned they're either making or buying new ones, eventually they'll get tired of making new ones and eventually they would be losing money buying new ones compared to how much money they would make DDoSing and they would eventually quit. But this is the main issue, Jagex currently isn't doing shit regardless of the fact that singles teams are losing members by the day/closing and the wilderness is dying because everyone knows who is doing it and nobody is putting a stop to it.

No the worst thing is Jagex isn't putting a stop to it while the people doing it are profiting off of it and making players who don't ruin the game like they do stop playing.

I don't think there is much that they can do to stop it, maybe change their server host or something? I'm not exactly sure how they're hitting worlds off in the first place.

Have heard about a bit of this taking place on weekends when clans are out on their PK Trips, which is lame.

Select clans/teams are the ones responsible, mainly due to the fact that they can't compete legitimately against the other clans/teams that can actually play fair. Also as far as i'm aware there's more than one way to get the IP of any given world since someone uploaded a video describing how easy it was for someone to do it and why it was an issue, so all they need is something strong enough to knock that specific world offline.
