    Work Dilemma

Hi sythe :) I've got a little dilemma on my hands about where to work.
At the moment I work part-time at a Domino's within walking distance from my apartment.

In the last week I've gotten the opportunity to get one of two other jobs....I can either work for a local pizza joint(more hours) or a metal fab-shop.

I'm not sure which to choose... so here's the pro's and con's of both.
    Pizza Pros:
    - Already have plenty experience with pizza.
    - Still walking distance from apartment.(no commute)
    - full-time hours.

    Pizza Cons:
    - Have to quit part-time at Domino's (conflict of interest)
    - Only minimum wage pay rate.

    Metal-Fab Pros:
    - Some experience with metal fabrication.
    - Full-time hours.
    - Double minimum wage pay rate.
    - Able to keep part-time job at Domino's

    Metal-Fab Cons:
    - 20 mile commute.
    - Harder work.(physically)
    - No job security (temp)

So I ask you sythe.... what do you think I should do?
Option 1: Take the new Pizza Job and quit the part-time one.
Option 2: Take the Metal-fab job and still work the part-time one.

Harder work isn't really a con, that's just you being lazy and not liking it.
I'd say it depends on your situation. Do you NEED to keep a job? If so go with the pizza place.
If you want more money for a short while then work at the metal fab place, also how long is temp? With metal fab you will be able to go into other lines of work related to it that will pay more than a pizza place, if you have experience they should take you on.

How old are by the way? You don't want to be working at a pizza place all your life do you..?

How much does the domino pay compared to min wage? I would go to the fab job and ditch domino's if I were you.

I'd go for the second option, it maybe a temp but almost all temps hold the possibility of becoming permanent.

    I'm 19, almost 20.
Domino's pays minimum too, but it's not "work" by any means.

I do need to keep a job because I have bills to pay every month, a temp job can last anywhere from a week to multiple years... it's completely dependent on the employer's choice to keep you or not. (they can lay you off at any time with no reason required)

My field I'd like to go into eventually is Welding, but those jobs just aren't around here.
The fab-shop would give me a better chance of going into that though... so I'm thinkin I should just do that :\

Domino's will not broaden your mind, What more can you learn from Pizza?
Go into the fab-shop.. Seems like the best options by far.
Also with all the physical work you'll be healthier, and more physically fit.

Good luck with your choice friend.

    Work Dilemma

I actually worked at Domino's (still work at a Domino's when they need me). Domino's is actually a good place to work if you're a delivery "expert". If you're an insider, then maybe not, try asking your GM for a raise. If he doesn't give you the raise, ask to be promoted to manager and go through manager training. Even showing effort by reading the management books from time to time might spark his interest in making you a manager. Becoming manager might get you somewhere if you want to work other places and manage them. I work right now for a wheel production company (I work in the polish department on a rotary) - Now if a fab shop is anywhere close to what I do, the only health benefits you will gain are muscles. Trust me, you will breath in shit that gives you all kinds of health problems down the road. If I were you, you already have full time at Domino's, which leads me to believe your store is very busy, or you're already a manager. Stick with that until you have some valuable resources to throw under your belt. I'm pretty sure it counts as Management experience, and Customer Service experience in the eyes of other employers. Around here if you have both of those (and actually have them) you could find a customer service job entry level for $15 an hour.

Option 2. I'm currently 16 years of age and I've been working with my dad, who is the owner of a machine shop, for quite a while now and quite frankly, I've had adults ask me to do things for them outside of my dad's shop because they know that I have the experience. In life, working with your hands will build better values into you and help you futurewise far more than a job at any pizza shop. Good luck.

I would go with option 2, as it's always good to have experiences in other fields of work. As you also get to keep your part-time dominoes job, while the metal-fab may only be temporary, you have a fallback plan in case anything happens.

Metal fab. The work-experience you gain will be irrevocable. Though the hard work and travel time may be off-putting, if your willing to tough it out, you will reap the benefits in the long run.

Option 2 not just because of the pay but because it seems like it would benefit you more in the future. It will help you gain a good work ethic just remember even when you've finished a task ask your boss if they need anything else done.Work until the jobs done not until the end of your shift and do things that are not asked of you. Do these things and you should be able to keep the job. Good luck:)

    Work Dilemma

HERES THE THING ABOUT MINIMUM WAGE!!

I watched morgan spurlocks 30 days guy from supersize me anyways he and his girlfriend decided to live 30 days living off minimum wage.

And what they realized is even with 2 people working at minumum wage YOU ARE WORKING BELOW. DONT FORGET ABOUT TAXES.

Taxes cut your wage by a lot. Take the double wage because you will need the extra money like what happens if you gotta go to the mergency room?

Go watch the morgan spurlock 30 days episode its the first one Its really educational and shocking.
