    Wisdom Teeth Removal + After

    Hey Guys,
    So Friday I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed.
    All four teeth.

    Now I'm the type of person who CAN NOT, ABSOLUTELY NOT be able to sit in one spot and skip a days workout.

    My workouts are all about an hour long, especially Friday's, its weightlifting.

    Now I'm the type of person who doesn't care what kind of pain I have, I can push through it. I have HUGE pain tolerance. I have gotten stabbed halfway through the arm before and it was like a mere sting for me, of course there was blood but I just took it as little simple pain that really didn't matter.

    Now I don't know but I just can't lay in a goddamn bed eating Jell-O, I have to move and work out.
    I read online about how long it would take to recovery and got 2-3 days and some said 5-7 days.
    THAT'S WAY TOO LONG FOR ME TO HOLD OUT!

    For those of you who want to actually know how hard I work, I come home from parties at 2AM and dont go to bed untill I do my workout, that is literaly how I just can't skip it.

    Now is it possible for me to do my workout, fully, sweating and all, and take the pain knowing the consequences.

    Pain = Don't Care
    Blood = Don't Care

    Now will it really matter if I push myself, or will it negatively affect me.

    Please advise something guys, I'm just not feeling this at all :(

    Russian

    This is probably something you should ask your dentist or someone else who works professionally in that field.

    Thanks for moving to the correct section Tgump, I appreciate it.

    Yes that I will. But no matter what, the dentist will say that it is RECOMMENDED to NOT do exercise for atleast 2-3 days. If not 5.

    But in my type of position, I just CAN'T NOT workout. o_O
    I'm hoping if anyone has gotten them removed here and did anything strenuous right after?

    Thanks

    Just had this done last month actually. I was dreading it, I read up on all the horror stories online about some botched up procedures.

    Truth be told, it wasn't bad at all. You won't even remember the surgery (assuming you're being put under, most people are). The day of the surgery you're so drilled on anesthetics you will not feel anything until the night. Day 2 and Day 3 were the worst, lots of swelling and bleeding, but no pain, that was it. I didn't even need to take a single painkiller, just keep up with your anti-inflammatory drugs and you'll be great.

    You'll be eating soft stuff for 3-4 days, I lived on mash potatoes. Don't over-exert yourself or you'll cause more bleeding, and MAKE SURE you bite down on the gauze they give you after the procedure properly. I didn't do it carefully and I was bleeding for 3 days.

    Pain? No. Nuisance? Yes.

    You'll be okay.

    I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year ago, wasn't bad at all and more than likely they will put you under to remove them.

    The pain isn't to bad, I was loaded on Vicodin. I recovered back to full health in about two-three days, your cheecks will be swollen for a while though.

    I personally have never had mine removed, but my ex did last fall and I was the one takin care of her. She was all painkillered up and shit. She was pretty good the first night she was awake and fine talking to me the next day she did go to the gym and did a light work out. I didn't noticed as much swelling as I assumed.

    So what exactly is your question? You're saying that whatever the dentist tells you you'll ignore.

    Believe it or not, there is a reason you're being told not to push yourself.

    I had my wisdom teeth pulled about a year ago, and it's not a big deal. If you're given anesthesia, it's painless, and I think they give you painkillers for the aftermath (which I don't remember being that bad either). However, they will probably suggest you keep ice on it for a ridiculous number of hours to prevent swelling, and you'll probably want to just take a day off to take care of that. They probably wouldn't recommend weightlifting too soon after your appointment anyway, due to the drugs in your system.

    You're not very bright if you think you can "push through it". If you don't do drugs then the drugs they prescribe you will fuck you up. I had this done last spring and I can tell you that if you miss any of your medication the pain is unbearable. You can't open your mouth (gl breathing while weightlifting)

    Like the feedback, though it just goes around my question :/

    Same as above :/

    Same as above :/

    I'm asking what if I DO IGNORE the dentist, and I do push to it, what are the consequences, and if any, are they major? Or will the recovery just take 2x's longer?

    Well I can tell they won't recommend weightlifting and I did read about the ice every hour to keep swelling away or something :/

    No I don't do drugs, anyone who does is a moron.
    I didn't say I WON'T take the medication, I'm saying what if even WITH the medication I power through my workouts.

    I have been through some unbearable pain, you just grit your teeth and push through.
    I've been stabbed and managed to weightlift, not with 100% intensity but I would definatly say 75-80%
    I've broken my leg and managed to push through doing leg exercises like squats, jacks etc... again, not 100% intensity but definatly 65-70%

    It's not that no one will be able to do it or not, anything is surely possible, but it's the side effects. How will they affect me if I do push it? What are they? Any way to work at atleast 70% intensity and pull through, what to watch for?

    I have pulled through some tough workouts.
    December I was at 289lbs (I was 17 and 6'3")
    Now, June 16th, (Morning weight) I'm at 184lbs (18 and 6'3.5")

    I couldn't do a pushup, pull up or even a correct squat for my life in December, but I grit my teeth and 6 months later lost 100+ pounds.

    The only reason I'm telling you this is to show how much determination and will power I have to do something, so now to make it clear;

    What I DO NOT want to know;
    - How long it takes to heal? - (2-3 or 5-7 maybe more depending on severity.)
    - Is it recommended to lift right after - Well of course not.
    - Does it hurt? - I'm getting put to sleep, I won't feel it. I read that day 1 is nothing to the pain in days 2 and 3.
    - Eating - I know I have to be living on mostly liquids for atleast 3-5 days, Jell-O, Yogurt etc... and no drinking through straw
    - Medication - I'll be given it

    What I DO want to know;
    - Is it possible, even with the hard meds?
    - Has anyone done anything close to this?
    - Say I DO have the will power and strength to push through, (hypothetically speaking) CAN I do it/should I do it?
    - If I DO decide to push it, what are the severe affects if any?
    - What can happen if I do persue it?

    ^ Those are the questions I would like answered.
    I appreciate input on everything else but that's just going around my question, I would like an answer, if STRONGLY against it, then there must be either a death reason or just something that can happen like losing a leg or something.

    Thanks for Everyones help so far.

    It's possible, but for various reasons that others have posted it is a foolish thing to do.
    You feel pain for a reason. It is a natural response from your body when, put simply, something is wrong. Deliberately causing yourself pain is a stupid thing to do.

    There is a reason the doctor is telling you not to exert yourself. You will be under the influence of heavy sedatives, which is not a good condition to be lifting weights.

    Trust what he or she says, they have your best interests at heart. Nothing will happen if you miss a day or two of training.

    Hey,

    Good luck man, nice to see you on the forums.

    I've got 3 teeth hiding in my gums I think, but i've not seen much of them. Only an X-ray.

    Hope your surgery / teeth removal goes well.

    Ame.

    Thanks Guys.

    Great to see you too Ame. Haven't been on for months, got caught up with work, school and other stuff, barely have time to come for forums. But it's summer now, may see me a bit more XD

    Anyway, I got em all pulled this morning.
    The pain killed at first, can barely open my mouth. Can still barely open my mouth, but I feel 4x's better then the morning.

    I don't know but hopefully blood stopped, held in that cotton thing for an hour and a half, and still a little blood here and there.

    Hopefully I can fully use my jaw Monday.
    And I now actually see this pain isn't a joke. I decided to recover and not work out because of a couple reasons;
    The high intensity of the lifting and jumping would kill my jaw even more, considering I have to breathe heavily as well.
    Plus the fact that the shit they gave me, I feel like my head's in a circle and the painkillers just drowse me :(

    Anyway, hopefully pain goes away by tomorrow and it's easier, and by Monday maybe I can talk normally. Can't wait for it to heal :(

    Thanks for everyones help

    Good to hear that your doing fine. The blood isn't going to stop anytime soon, at least in my case it didn't. I believe I was bleeding for about a week.
    The worst part was not being able to eat.

    Just keep putting gauze in your mouth and that should soak up most of the blood, try to swallow as little as possible. I remember after the stitches fell out, I drove myself crazy working my tongue through the holes.

    The gauze is getting on my nerves X(
    I have used all of them so far, I'm basically just spitting blood out, it's gotten a LOT less though so its good.

    And the Jell-O is unbelievable! When it's cold, its like heaven in your mouth for the wounds. The pudding is okay for a snake, then the soup is good as well as Ice cream pops, they just cool your whole mouth out XD

    I believe I'll get through this, I'm in no pain right now, taking Penicillin and Tylonal.

    Not bad for a first day, I hope the rest of the weekend will be as smooth.
