Will we ever see the "Glory Days" again?

When reflection botting was at its prime a few months ago, you could literally bot any skill you wanted to 99 whenever you wanted. Now, unless you're playing legit or have some sort of unreleased bots, it's almost impossible to bot dungeoneering, slayer, minigames, etc. My question is simple: will the botting community ever see something as revolutionary as reflection/injection botting again?

 

Hopefully not, they completely ruined the game.

Doubtful, Simba will be short lived. I think most botters have moved on from RS these days anyway; the ability to bot and farm a lot of money just isn't there anymore.

 

Well, will anything else be found similar to reflection? (I'm sort of new to this)

What do you mean "Will be short lived" We've been around LONGER than anything else... I don't think we're going to disappear anytime soon considering we're 5+ years old and constantly developing.....

We're not for goldfarmers, we're for the average Joe who just wants to get some skills up.

 

You have a messed up perception of the "glory days". Mass botting and goldfarming were not even close to the glory days... they are what has been destroying the game. Like it or not, the game is not about how much money you can squeeze out of it. I botted many mills and quite a few 99s, and I will fully acknowledge that it took the fun out of the game. If all you enjoy doing is looking at stats you did not earn or money you bought/farmed, why do you even play the game at all?

The glory days have been over since like 2003-2006.

 

agreed, but when none of your friends play the game anymore and all the fun you used to have is not there anymore... do you really want to continue legitting it (considering the fact that you still like the game)? bots ruined everything in the game and i personally did enjoy the game A LOT more before bots, but im just saying, im doing no harm to anybody if im going to bot my skills not to make tons of cash and then sell it. i believe goldfarmers actually ruined this game, not the casual botter.

There was nothing glorified about a flood of 30 people on one oak tree. The minimap in the free worlds look like it was swarming with white ants. It's the mindless goldfarmers who abused the simplicity of 'stupid bots' like PowerBot & RsBuddy.

SRL was around since you were wearing diapers. Short-lived? SRL goes back to the RSC days, before the Runescape you know now even existed. Short-lived? Think again, boy.

i guess its back to the "old days" of about 50 koreans farming gold by hand for 12 hours a day in a small space.

 

All of you took my comment way out of context. I'm not referring to the millions of people hoping to get a frost dragon. I'm talking about the days when you could actually find a script for what you needed. Simba/Scar is nice to some extent, but it just can't do as much with it only being color-based.

 

It can do as much, Simba sees what you see, you just have to tell it how to interpret that information. So what's the real meaning behind that comment? Did you really mean that Simba doesn't have the ability to complete certain tasks, or did you make that comment because currently you can't find a script that does what you want it to?

 

There will always be private bots that are effective, but as for big name bots sold to the public its doubtful. Most who have the talent would be too scared of lawsuits now. Jagex manhandled rsbuddy and nexus.

If they could limit the scripts used per person then i think jagex mite let it go...

because they were pretty much fine with it until the goldfarmers got em running like 200+ bots

No need to be an arrogant asshole. I've been playing and botting RS since classic as well, I don't need a history lesson. And you took my comment completely out of context; I said SIMBA would likely be short lived. Since the nuke, and their new "detection systems", I don't see it as a viable option to farm mass amounts of gold/skills anymore. The point is that botting, regardless of the code, be it SRL, reflection or opengl, will never make a serious comeback and the supposed "glory days" have been gone since early RS2.

 

I pretty much agreed with the nuke, even though i got myself a few 99s through it.

id quit a bit before the trade limit update to play wow, came back after a friend linked me rsbot and said it was easy to set up, did a month or 2 on and off up until the bot nuke, everytime i came back it just seemed worse and worse to a point where almost every one was a bot

f2p was just insane, i honestly though they'd do a massive ban wave so didnt bot as much as i should of but seems the nuke was a much better option in keeping the likes of me still playing legit instead of banning to out right quit.

i wish id put more effort into understanding scar way back when i started rs but i remember half my friends list getting wiped out so it put me off, pretty sure that was a slight ban wave
