Will Runescape Last 11 More Years?

They'll have to do something big to make it last another 11 years.

 

The question is will RuneScape last 11 years, not will RS2 last 11 years. I think RuneScape will easily last another 11 years, even if they release RS3 or something similar.

 

I voted yes. There are always people joining and leaving. MMORPGS still really aren't that old. It's hard to tell what the future of gaming will bring.

If they keep up with it then maybe they might. If they keep trying to gain players through loyalty points and game items from game cards, then they will surely loose some of their better players.

I think they'll need to move off the java platform. My thoughts are scrambled so I'll stop.

I think it will. It may appear that a lot of people are quitting, but I think the majority that still likes the game are just keeping quiet.

 

Doubt it... If the game is having such a hard time staying relevant now then in 11 years how hard will it be? The RuneScape brand is another matter entirely. RuneScape may come out with RS3 as some suggest, but RS2 won't last 11 years.

 

I think it will. There are so many players who have put hundreds of hours into the game that still haven't lost interest. Many players will continue to pay for membership and play even if they have completed everything in the game.

honestly, when they banned bots they lost like 75% of their playerbase, i dont think they will last another 3 years

 

I can't imagine they will last beyond another 5 years.

I think it will definitely last 11 more years, but to what extent who really knows.

I feel that it wouldn't be as popular as it is now nor be able to continue to give updates. Honestly, try thinking of a great new skill or an awesome high level update that hasn't already been implemented in some way.

I voted yes, because it will exist, but not to any extent of popularity as it has in the past.

 

YES, old players will quit but new players will come in.

if they release a new skill (I think the next one will be next year?) those players who quit will come back and more new player will come in... then old players will quit again.. new players blah blah blah... It'll just go round and round lol.. its the "circle of rs life"

and they already said they want to update the skills to decrease grinding to make it less boring and tedious, runecrafting will get an update this year I think and summoning

 

I think that the majority of people who have graduated or are about to graduate (highschool) will quit... if not after highschool after a couple years of university /college and start living their lives... Or they max their account

 

In all honesty, no. Peoples interest for the game is slowely dieing, and theres no influx of new players when you have games like MW3/Skyrim as competition.

 

It will be a game that will run for a long time, but whether or not there is the playerbase to support it in that length of time (asuming new games populate the market) is yet to be seen.
