    Wikileaks Under DDoS Attacks

The past couple of days Wikileaks has been down periodically for good amounts of time at a time. It's currently down right now. They claim they're under a DDoS attack, anyone think the United States Government is doing this?

It's definitely some government or another. No actual would really DDoS them for speaking the truth.

Then again, it may not be the US government as they know they'll be the first blamed.

    Wikileaks Under DDoS Attacks

It's pretty clear that its not just some random DDoS attack, im sure hackers are loving WikiLeaks atm anyway, just because of all the fun shit they're putting out.

Governments are attacking it, and have been attacking WikiLeaks in different ways for awhile now. Such as shutting down their account that receives all their funding.

What sense does that make? You'd think with a whole countries governments resources, all they can do is come up with a DDoS attack? I'm calling bullshit. I'm sure the United States could hire a team of professional computer hackers to actually do more than some skid botnet attacks.

There have been people under the age of 18 with botnets ranging from 10,000 plus zombies. If you know how to work torrents and spread effectively and quickly, it's nothing hard. I guess you do have a point, I just don't see why they would resort to DDoS'ing.

    Wikileaks Under DDoS Attacks

I wouldn't be surprised if some government was attempting to DDoS the site, after release of 251,287 cables (including some 100,000 marked "Secret") the politicians and rulers of the world wouldn't want the public seeing these. These sorts of things make me feel rather cautious about our world.

Their DNS server was shut down, and their various hosts have removed them from their servers, so not all the downtime is due to DDoS attacks. The Chinese government is known to use them, though.

Definitely. This is going to make the situation worse though, he threatened with more "damaging secrets" if his site was continually DDoSed... gonna be interesting to see what ends up happening to the founder..

Less than 1,000 have been released on the wikileaks website..

    Without a doubt, yes.

Some government official here said the warrant for his arrest over here was "Highly unusual" - ie. He was set up.

Man, whatever he leaks doesn't matter. People are too ignorant for change. It's funny how a lot of society doesn't realize what goes around in their surroundings. Even if you do, you know just like the rest your going to look and turn your shoulder.

That's the swiss bank that withdrew Assange's funds. Their website has been down for 2 days (I'm sure you can guess who did that)

things are looking pretty shitty for Assange.

it will be interesting to see what happens, he has threatened to release all of their other documents at once if he is arrested but i think this would actually be better than dragging it out since that will keep drawing more attention to it where getting it all out at once will make people eventually forget it faster
