Why time travel will never be possible.

Its really quite simple. If time travel were possible, there would be people from the future already here.

It could be that human society collapses before time travel is possible.

However, if time travel were achievable, you would encounter a paradox. A person would be able to go back and kill his own grandfather, etc. That's where the concept of alternative universes comes in...

 

Slowing down time is possible though..Just travel faster than the speed of light.

 

Well there's that. And the fact that time isn't an essence, it's a man made thing. Time didn't exist when the world started, man made it to keep track of things.

 

Light and time have no correlation.

 

That cannot be done on the macro scale, since the energy required for an object with mass to travel at the speed of light is an infinite amount. To travel faster means you need an amount greater than energy, something that is obviously impossible.

 

Some UFO enthusist like to think that ufo's are actually people from the futer travelling back to have a look. I myself doubt that.

 

Time travel may be true in the future, maybe they just don't want to come back and look at all the mistakes that have happened during the time that we call "today".

 

How do you know it hasn't happened? Maybe they have come back but governments have kept it a secret to stop outbreaks or something. Makes sense if you think of all our technology. But then if we could travel in time, we would have much better technology than now, unless the world ends

Though highly unlikely, say someone actually did find a way to travel in time.
Imagine the repercussions of people meeting other people who do not exist in their dimension.

The thing that scares me, is humans will meddle in things they shouldnt, and mucking around with "time", seriously, if they stuff up they could destroy everything that has and ever will exist/ed.

some guy working for the government in Area 51 came out telling about a alien ship the gov recovered,(roswell maybe was an old looking video) he said its possible it might reach speeds of light. Total bullshit? Maybe. But humans bodies simply can't withstand that speed unless there is some kind of way to reduce the effects speed has on the body. So maybe aliens can withstand it but not us, therefore not possible for humans. Time travel in my eyes, not possible. I mean seriously what if someone went back in time and killed whoever they had to to avoid you being made. you gona disapear out of nowhere then? Doubt it.

 

I don't believe it's possible, but for arguements sake: there would probably be a portal/machine of some sort that will allow time travel from the day it's built on.

In response to the OP - I've seen multiple time machine "blueprints" which were pretty much a basic idea how it work. One talked about lasers and shit and I don't really know much about it. Basically, it said that things could be sent back and forth in time but not before the machine was turned on. It would be quite interesting to see because right when he plugged the machine in he would be getting letters from the future that he sent to himself.


Take a look at the Omega Point of Infinite Novelty. It's pretty much everything happening at every time. The discovery of time travel could explain this pretty easily. I mean the occurrence of events would go non-linear. Time would no longer be a line. It would be more like a plane. Look up novelty theory. Terence McKenna was a crazy mofo.

 

I beleive it will never be possible there is no future of us there is no past there is only us. Well what I am trying to say is there is no future us while we are still here, there is no past it has been gone the only way to go past is in your memories where you can't do anything but...see what you have already seen before. As for the future you could do the freezing yourself which would mean you die when you wake up since you are so cold, or sleeping through time.

I could tell my self now that I will stop at no costs to build a time machine, and when it's built to come back to this exact time. If you really meant you are going to go through with this, yourself should come to you at that exact moment. But you would really need to mean it. And sinse nobody would mean it, nobody would show up. Or... nobody shows up because it can't happen. Either way... unless it did work but when it happened the government finds out, goes back to the time when it shows up to you, and stops it at that moment, it doesn't show up so you give up the dream of being able to time travel! lol...
