Why scanners can sometimes be good

When someone scans you, they exploit a vulnerable part of you. Essentially, they employ their tricks on you and demonstrate your susceptibility to them.

Surprisingly, the scanners who scan you for a relatively small amount are the saints here on Sythe. They provide a valuable lesson at a very humble cost.

There are levels to scanning, and I rank the levels in terms of the damage and/or potential damage that they can do to someone's livelihood.

These are the pinnacle of scanners, the crème de la crème, the cream of the crop or however tf that saying goes. These guys are basically committing months of their time, and sometimes even years, to social engineer and scan individuals to make a profit. These are the serious rats of the community that really need be dealt with like rodents. I know it may sound extreme to some of you but I feel very passionate when it comes to this topic. Sometimes I feel death is more appropriate of a punishment for people who steal, but you can't really implement the death penalty unless someone invades your house and you have the right to kill them. However, I don't think death is a fair punishment for the crimes that they commit. I believe chronic scanners should live the rest of their lives with amputated hands. That's just my opinion.

These scanners are a bit interesting because they're not necessarily doing this all the time. They're sometimes just opportunist scanners. Regular people who will jump at an opportunity where there isn't much risk involved. These guys are similar to rank 3 scanners in the sense that they're teaching you a valuable lesson, but this lesson can sometimes be quite pricey. There's not much to say about these guys. They're dickheads too but not as bad as the full-time scanners. These are more-so part-time scanners if you will.

These are people who will scan you for a very small amount, an almost insignificant amount. If you've ever wondered who these people are, then look no further because I'm about to give you all the possibilities:

Someone in a 3rd world country: If you get scanned by this guy, I mean it's still bad but at least you learned a lesson for a very cheap price.

Some kid: If you get scanned by a kid, you 1. Probably needed to learn that lesson. or 2. You were just testing the kid to see if he would actually scan you. You gave him an honesty test.

Someone who is struggling financially and scanning as a means to an end: This is a last resort for this person. This person, similar to the 3rd world country person is someone who is struggling more than usual. There's no justifying their actions but you do have to appreciate that when this person scans you, they open you up to understanding that people like this exist.

I hope this has given you some introspection and will help you in the future.

However, despite all of that being said, principle comes first. Fuck them all to death. People get wayyyy too comfortable behind a screen where there are no consequences for their actions.

You're looking at it backwards. The scammer will always remain what he is.. A piece of shit, regardless of the amount he scams. The victim on the other hand has an opportunity to learn and grow from victimhood and turn it into a lesson rather than groveling in self pitty. I once got cash scammed many years back and the experience made me feel horrible about myself. Because of being scammed however, I picked up the hobby of boxing and have been doing it for years now. The victims are the saints if they follow the path of self improvement.

It's true, it does feel completely shitty. And if you've been through a situation where you needed to better yourself and learn martial arts to defend yourself, I know exactly where you're coming from. That's a dark place you go to in terms of just defending your own masculinity. Sometimes even knowing how to fight isn't enough, you have to be able to recognize cues of violence and know what they are and how you need to react to neutralize or deescalate situations. Combat sports can be a very humbling experience, but the difference is, combat sports will equip you with the necessary tools to deal with a threat, they won't prepare you for the unpredictability. However what will prepare you for unpredictability is the cues. The way a punk will behave leading up to a violent attack. Posturing, deep tone of voice, a focused look in their eyes. Anyhow I'm getting off topic... There's no justifying a scanner. But what I'm trying to say is sometimes you should see the positives in a negative situation. Mental alchemy.
