Just because you like a certain kind of dubstep doesn't mean we all have to. I like some Skrillex, but I also like a wide range of dubstep. Dubstep is about the energy and feeling of the music. You are pretty much saying Skrillex shouldn't make music because he is making popular music. I am not 12 or a girl but the Justin Bieber analogy is relevant, like I said you guys don't like him because he is so popular. You are being dubstep hipster fags.

Dubstep is defined by the syncopated rhythm, bass lines, wobbles, and drops. What you should be discouraging is all of these cookie cutter remixes that claim to be dubstep but are just the song cut up with a crappy wobbled bass line. I am just wondering what the use of listening to dubstep is if it doesn't have energy? Dubstep isn't supposed to be listened to per say but to be danced to. That is where it originated. You hating on him isn't going to make him any less popular, but will probably make him more popular because someone is going to be like "Whos Skrillex?" and go listen to him and find they like him.

You really don't get it at all, do you?

I'm not going to fuddle around with genre semantics, but dubstep was defined by allmusic as

    Code:
tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals
I don't give a fuck about Justin Bieber. I don't listen to him, I didn't see his movie. I don't like him, I don't even dislike him. I dislike skrillex not because he's achieved commercial success (James Blake/Burial overshadow him in the dub world), but because he's a sup-par redundant hack.

Hahahahahah yeah. Exactly, don't even bother listening to dubstep. Just plug your ears and dance! What the fuck are you even saying. I go to dub shows, and I listen to dub at home. I can appreciate dubstep just as much listening to 12"s in my room as in the gramercy theatre.

Really? I thought it was about how it sounded. Oh yeah I forgot, you don't listen, ya just feel the woofer vibrations!

I like better music than you. I go to more shows than you. My plaid gets more bitches than you do. You just seem stupid

    Really please

The "you're just jealous because he's popular and makes more money than you" excuse is getting old. No one is hating on him because he's popular, but because most of his songs suck. Same goes for a lot of mainstream artists out there. Just because someone is popular doesn't make them talented.

I've never understood how anyone can think dubstep is good to dance to. I honestly can't think of anything worse.

Whatever category you want to put the videos you posted into, I don't like. I wouldn't really consider it dubstep, because to me dubstep is all about the deep bass, and the killer drops. What you've posted to me, I'd consider more on the techno or club side. But, I guess it's an opinionated thing. I honestly only like a select few of Skrillex's songs.. He's mostly very repetitive and it's just not very elaborate. Rusko, Figure, and Flux Pavillion are more my taste.

What? You're completely wrong. I posted songs by james blake, actress, burial, zomby and airhead. All 5 are established dubstep producers. Burial was one of the originators of dubstep. Dubstep isnt about "killer drops", its about 140 bpm, minor keys, and sub-bass. You're an ignorant slob. Just because it doesn't have huge bass drops and headache inducing wobbles doesn't mean its not dubstep.

Pretty sure the whole reason because like Skrillex is because it's loud, high energy and in your face music.

That's why people listen to Skrillex. Maybe the music you posted doesn't appeal to them because it's not it their taste. It's like, someone likes Hiphop like Drake but doesn't like Nas because he's oldschool and has a completely different sound they don't really like.

I don't really like dubstep, but it's passable at times. Especially if you're at a party etc.

At the moment, I'm into stuff like Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, so dubstep's a long way off I think!

I'm an ignorant slob because I have an opinion? Well you're a complete dick for jumping onto people for expressing what they feel. I even said that you might consider it dubstep, but in my opinion it's not. For all I care I could say that opera has a bit of heavy metal in it.. Chill the fuck out.

because what you posted is more like garage/jungle than dubstep

also, why do you think that just because the kind of dubstep you like appeals to everyones taste because its in the same genre?

also, why do you care what other people like

ok kid stop acting like you know shit lol

burial was one of the originators of dubstep??? hahaha fuck me you know nothing.

140 bpm is also the same as garage, some jungle, funky house and grime.

I can't believe you're saying all dubstep is in minor key you moron.

Most fucking genres of electronic music has sub-bass.

still loling at burial being one of the originators of dubstep. el-b, skream, wiley, n type are some of the forerunners.

and people were spitting over dub beats in like 1998 where as burial released his first album like 5 years ago

Dubstep is hardly oldschool, it was first heard 1998~ and even then it was hardly what you call dubstep more like a funky mix of two garage tracks..
