Why Does Vista Suck?

The only bad thing about vista is how vulnerable it is to viruses. But its ight with AVG

probably becouse its slower, atleast for some people (it has more programming etc wich makes it slower to load all that shit) then for all games you will need ½ the stuff you machine has (eg. Xp needs 1g ram and 2Ghz processor, Vista needs 1.5g ram and 3Ghz processor)

We had to get a new computer after our old one fried. Within an hour of using Vista, I wanted to throw it out the window. Hard to navigate, almost all my old computer games are incompatible with vista, and so on. Also, I can't run Limewire on it. Would trade almost anything to get XP back.
LMFAO Vista Rules! if u ppl are saying vista isnt compatable with anything u are wrong. Right click on the program and then choose properties. Go to compatability and select run in compatability for windows xp, 2000, 98, 95 , ME that simple
Actually that only worked once for me, and before you ask, yes I am the Admin.

I got vista on my computer around 3 weeks after it came out. I did find that not many things were vista compatible at first, but that's no surprise.

I hate that UAC system which asks always "are you sure you...", that's why I'm using linux now...

yeah the UAC is so pathetic, you can turn it off though

it leaks memory worse than a cup without sides leaking water.

but, oh well.. we'll have to live with it, see'ing as windows 7 (new os they are working on) is pratically the same as vista.. with a few improvements, and a few dissapointments

1)It is very different than XP. This is a problem because those who used XP for years, suddenly have to learn a whole shit load on how to do the same things in Vista that you could do in XP. I also think that doing many tasks in Vista are harder, and take longer to do than in XP.

This means you YOURSELF cannot adapt. It's not that hard to learn a few extra features is it?

2)It uses a whole lot of ram, much more than XP. This is hard for those who are moving up to Vista from XP, since they need to upgrade their computers, that may only be 1 or 2 years old. This can be costly, depending on what needs upgrading, and annoying since you need to send it in, or bring it to Best Buy or something to upgrade it.

So stick another stick of RAM in it. RAM's cheap, and it's not hard to install.

3)There is not much special about Vista. A large amount of the advanced options are the same menus used in XP. In the jump from 98 to XP, there is a huge difference in most everything, and XP was much different than 98. Since Vista has a lot of the same things as XP, there really is no point in upgrading.

Contradicted reason 1 there.

4)It has a bunch of stupid popups. One of the most annoying ones in UAC, which can be disabled but it is still annoying. Another annoying popup I can not seem to get rid of is one telling me to check parental controls for my guest account. I even deleted the account and they still popup.

The 'Popups' are for security. They can easily be turned off through the control panel.

5)The shutdown and startup speeds for vista are much slower than XP, even with my crappy looking vista. SP1 of course made them faster in general, they still take a long time sometimes.

Depends on what you have on your PC. Same with XP there. Now you're just looking for faults in Windows in general.

6)The auto-updates on vista are annoying. I have had to system restore after updates a great number of times. Most of the time it is because Vista says I am running an illegal copy, which I am not. Its not much better than XP, because same thing would happen to me with XP too, but not as often.

You can turn auto-update off you know?

7)The way they are marketing Vista, I think is manipulating people that do not understand computers. They are focusing on Parental Controls, Game Rating, Free Software that you can download online, and random people saying "OMG, THIS IS VISTA? ITS SO GREAT!". I think its plain stupid and its basically lying to people about what Vista is.

If that's how you want to take it, fair enough, but yet again that is YOUR OPINION.

They changed a huge amount. Its hard to find shit, and everyone I know that switched from XP to vista agrees with me.

So stick another stick of RAM in it. RAM's cheap, and it's not hard to install.

I am not upgrading a 1 year old computer. If vista was good, you would not need to upgrade.

Contradicted reason 1 there.

Did not. If you cared to read my post that i already explained all of my points for a second time you would understand

NO. I am not talking completely about UAC. Read my other post to understand.

No. It takes longer for my computer running vista to shut down and start up than my dads old shit computer running xp.

You can turn auto-update off you know?

They are off, but it is nice to fix stuff that is wrong, but annoying since it breaks vista most of the time.

If that's how you want to take it, fair enough, but yet again that is YOUR OPINION.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT YOUR OPINION! This effects my opinion of vista, so it counts.

You have no points to say why vista is good, only reasons my points r bad. Go and find some reasons why vista is good. i bet you can not.

I hate vista. Still not perfect for me. And like CP said, the security is nothing but a pain in the arse. Not to mention program compatibility. I had to fix my friend's vista all the time, everytime I ask him to put some programs he needed etc.

Vista doesn't suck, it can be frusturating at first to use if you're a xp user, but after a while it becomes like your best freind :D
It's user friendly, and it just looks better to be honest.

I hate the looks, is the most non user friendly thing I have ever used, and it is the most annoying thing ever, but yes, I kinda got used to it.

For many reasons.

1: It's ugly. If I wanted prettyness I'd use Linux+Compiz, which I do.
2: It's slow. My PC has 4Gb of RAM and a Core-2 Quad @ 2.7Ghz, Vista operates like XP did on my previous (Sucky) computer.
3: It's a bugger to get rid of. I had to partition the hard-disk with Ubuntu, delete the Vista partition, delete the Ubuntu partition, then install Windows XP.
4: It takes up a load of space. Even though I do have 1Tb of storage, I don't want to lose 10Gb or so on a stupid piece of crap that doesn't work properly.
5: It's not compatiable with older games. Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 didn't work.

In conclusion, It's better to upgrade to XP or Linux.

So that concludes my rant. Feel free to flame my opinions.

You guys are really defending your 512mb of ram that you probably have...
Listen, you don't need an uber computer to play most games. You will probably never notice any sort of lag or glitching while using your computer if you have any c2d out there and at least 2 gigs of ram. Idk why you guys are so defensive about your shitty computers and your just insulting vista just because you can't use it. Are you guys just going to use xp forever? I don't get it...you keep bringing up gaming and having extreme computers to be the only reason to get vista. Let's look at it like this. Take yourself back some amount of years, and say your using windows 98. Than XP comes out, and wow "im not spending this much money on this shit". Few years later xp is extremely stable, and 98 is pretty much left rotting in the corner. Well?
After sp1 came out for vista all of the bugs and glitches are for the most part gone, and vista is now extremely stable.

Unless you use Vista.

(P.S. Google "microsoft admits vista mistake")

Well it's a giant space and memory hog. Uses a lot of video power to. Also to one of the first posts on the first page. It's not better than Linux. It's just user-friendly and has a pretty GUI. Linux.. Untoppable. Maybe Solaris, but that's to beast of an operating system for most users.

UAC, bugs, compatibility issues, resource hog, etc. Not user friendly in my book.

1. Uses up more memory to run; bad for gaming. So let's say a game requires 1GB RAM on XP, it'll require more on Vista.
2. You're not really an administrator. You can't even delete Internet Explorer for god's sake!
3. Too much security shit. It's real good for idiots.

Etc...etc...Compatibility Issues.. etc.. etc.. Gayness... The fact that it took 5 years to make.. etc.. Gayness... etc.. fail.

Uhm... why try to go through a couple of pages to find a(n) about 8 month old thread to post in?
