Why does everyone here still use Skype?

Got a lot of contacts on my Skype so I use that more and not a lot of my contacts use discord. Trying to transition to discord tho just in case someone try's to impersonate

 

Do you mind elaborating on why Discord is safer? I almost got scammed by someone impostering a MM last night, so if Discord really is safer then I'll make the leap to it since I only use my Skype for RWT.

 

I have reiterated multiple times to staff members why Skype will ultimately remain better than discord.

I understand a lot of people say that safe is insecure for various reasons however there are various features in Skype that keep the account secure in the first place.

Discord is unsafe for trading. Following the release of it anyone can trade with people now and delete messages. If messages are deleted, a scam report cannot be followed up because it would look blank. Theres no proof that a user scammed you and therefore they can get away with it.

With Skype however there is absolutely no risk. If you remove a message the other user can see "This message was removed" making it very easy for staff to ban and identify scammers.

I hope this information has helped you in some way about the risks of Discord.

 

dont like the way discord is setup, people have tried to get me to use it before, but i always seem to go back to skype

Although I greatly prefer discord over skype, unfortunately, Skype is more widely known than discord so more people have it readily installed on their pc. Also, some people are very skeptical when it comes to someone trying to get them to install something on their pc that they have never heard of.

Skype is more widely known and downloaded by the general population.

It also looks and feels more like it's made for business transactions when compared to discord.

I hate skype.. it has terrible security, and it's easy to impersonate other people.

 

I'll leave Skype when Skype dies on its own, just like MSN did.

As a creature of habit it is just easier to stick with the platform I've known and loathed for years.

 

Reason I use it is because I had been out of the market/gaming community for a while, so I never really got to know discord until just recently. Also, almost everyone else uses it so I just kept on with it.

As to impersonations, I find it ridiculous that people wouldn't be more careful when doing deals. Will never cease to amaze me how people lose hundreds of dollars over such a careless mistake as not asking for sythe PM/confirmation.

 

I always used Skype previously but I agree the way you can easilly impersonate someone is rediculous. Skype is catered as an alternative to phone calls and for business purposes to use ad videos calls, I think this is something you need to remember when bagging it.

Discord is a game-changer for gamers and IT-friendly people though. When I was introduced to it all I kept thinking was wow I wish I had this when I i played games like CS and we were using Ventrilo

 

Everyone has their contacts on Skype over the years as well.

 

One thing on discord though is that you can delete messages that you've sent and nothing shows up where as on skype, it shows "message removed." So it's kinda easier to scam on discord tbh

 

With Skype you can webcam with people, so that's fun.

 

I personally still use Skype since I've been used to it for a decade now. It's just quite easy to use, I do hope however that people will start switching to Discord soon.

 

I use skype for the same reason I used msn when everyone used skype. I don't break something that isn't broken.

 

Discord messages can be modified to look like a person said something they didn't. Skype is good because he messages will always be there.
