Why does everyone hates runescape in real life?

on my school when you play runescape (even when u bot)
they call you a nerd,little child,...

is this also in your schools? I know of kids that got their ass kicked just for playing internet games like runescape...

 

lmao are you serious? people here are pretty chill about it... it's just another game haha. like persay xbox-360 or ps-3? just my thoughts and most the people at my school. but then again only me and one other person at my school play and we're tri-sport athletes and we play it right in front of them. they don't really say shit ahha it's legit

Runescape is generally kind of "looked down" upon in the gaming community, and has always been regarded as "inferior" to other games of its type. However, with the recent graphic updates and Runescape HD, RS seems to be critiqued far less than it used to be.

I started playing RS when I was 10 and so I have a passion for the game still, as I spent many years of my life playing it and having a fantastic time. Yet I would definitely fall into the category of somebody who "doesn't want their friends to know". I've got 1 IRL friend who plays, and a small handful of my friends who know I play, but they don't care too much as they game much, much more than I do.

 

My views of RS, (Shared by most of my friends) is that it is a pretty crappy game when you get right down to it because the gameplay is shit. However, it is definitely the best free game there is, and it is a VERY convenient payment system and was easy, free money before botnuke.

 

People get the idea that it's a really stupid thing to be part of, something which takes over your life; It's much like World of Warcraft - the majority of my friends at school think it's a stupid game to play and that if you play it you can't really do or be part of anything else. Even parents seem more worried if you play WoW for example other than a game like Call of duty, just because of all the negatives which are told about it.

Pretty stupid that people think this way and i've often asked your question to myself.

 

People look down on runescape, as they do on many other things, because it is a minority. Half of my grade play Call of Duty or Fifa, and you'll even find girls becoming interested in these games. Hence playing this (and I could go even further and say to play any xbox game) does not make you an outcast. However, I would assume only 5 people play runescape in my grade (out of 200). That's 2.5%. If I were to admit I played runescape to my peers, I have NO DOUBT I would be ridiculed; at least by the ones I am not very close with.

The majority of people DO NOT CARE about how good a game is. It's how many people that play it that counts. This is the same in every aspect of one's life.

 

I think it's looked down upon because it can be a boring game to play for some and people believe that since they quit when they were younger that it is a child's game.

 

I have a few friends that still play. I mean we are all 18-24 and it's actually kind of funny how much they play. With the recent updates there is much more content. The graphics have gotten to the point where some computers, like my Core i5 Macbook Pro, lags while playing. I think that RS is at it's peak of perfect balance between Content and Graphic level.

 

My entire grade used to play runescape, that is until 5th grade. When we all decided to quit. Out of the 20 or so friends that I used to play with, only I am left. I dare not tell them that I still play.

 

It's just picked up a bad reputation for itself amongst teenagers. A lot of my friends played when they were in grade 5-7, then quit as they hit high school.

Because it's a game with terrible graphics that everyone played when they were 13 that has swords, dragons and magics.

 

Because it's atrocious, old and something they believe should be left in the past.

Also, people fear difference and change and will react negatively.

 

I only talk about RuneScape as a platform for moneymaking, making me thousands of dollars online with little effort. Some people were quite interested to hear about it, they only judge negatively if you seem like a generic nolifer spending days grinding pixel monsters.

 

this, the people that look down on RS now adays havent playd the game for sevral years. its not to bad atm. most of my old friends from way back actully plays the game now that the graph updates ect is up.

 

Because you're in high school and people in high school tend to be stereotyping assholes.

 

All my friends know that I play RuneScape, but they can't laugh about it because I'd bust their faces in. But that's just me..

 

Because they think it is a lame game when they have never tried it

 

because everybody is trying to be somebody and please someone else rather than being themselves in highschool

 

Because runescape is a tremendous waste of time.
