Why do people take the risk? [Account Purchase]

    Hi guys,

Since this is the market discussion I wanted to take some time to discuss why do you think people take the risk with account buying? Me myself, I have dealt with it enough in the past that I know any original owner can recover the account in mostly any circumstance mostly at any time they wish to recover the account, after all nobody can know more than the original owner. I see day in and day out disputes over account trading on this website, I mean it saddens me to have to see it all the time but I still wonder why people take the risk? I mean there is risk where you're dealing with a trusted member of the community who may have done a whole bunch of higher wealth trades and you don't seem to worried, or maybe you're dealing with the absolute newest forum member around... In either case I would never buy an account. You will also see people saying things like "that account is worth that much because the risk of you scamming is higher" That basically translates into "I want a good deal on the account because I can't trust you" which leaves me to think, why would these poor suckers buy it anyway?

    Discuss.

People are just uneducated about accounts, you must always look at what seller has to lose if he scams you, if it's some 2 week old sythe account he used twice why would he not do that? That's why you should always buy from some1 who is running an active business on sythe , because if they get banned for scamming they basically lose their income. There is a very good reason these accounts usually cost 2-3times more than buying from some random user who doesn't care about his reputation

I have a bought account but this is from a trusted seller. I'd NEVER buy an account from someone with a low or even an average/medium reputation. At least a medium to high reputation (like 200+ 500+ donor and lots of vouches) so you can be sure they won't recover the account because if they would it'd ruin their business. It's also from an "account shop", so not a random dude trying to sell his account but from a guy who trains accounts by hand with as purpose to sell and has a huge reputation in account selling.

Back in the day I bought an account from an unknown guy, and as expected about 6 months later the account got recovered and all my hard work was gone. As long as you buy from very trusted account sellers (people who make living off it/run a successful business in it) you're the safest.

I've also tried selling my own account (maxed main), I've had a thread up for months and didn't have any potential buyers. Only sketchy bids from people that got banned later on, so probably scam attempts. This is because people just don't buy off regular people anymore which is very understandable, everyone wants an account from a trusted account seller/shop.

I've sold upwards of 5 accounts on Sythe. I've also taken a ~4 month break from sythe. In that timeframe, in order to get a quick buck people would just scam. It hasn't crossed my mind. People who won't scam won't scam.

Buying an account is the dumbest waste of money. Such an account may be banned or frozen at any time. I had a situation like this with Steam.

I think people with tons of feedback and donations are fine, but some others I wouldn’t trust. Perhaps some people prefer not to think about getting scammed and just want to jump into the game.

I don't think it comes down to just trusting the person, but it was never really your account when you purchase one. That's just how
I feel, and plus, if anything were to happen you may be at complete risk of security for the account as well. To me, if you're going to
spend $300 on an OSRS account, I think you could spend that $300 on some services and at least still have complete security and
comfort with your own personal account.

Sure, the services won't get you near what you could buy for an account - but at least it would still be yours forever 100%

Risk need only competently. What would it be if we did not take risks and constantly sat in one place? - we would not move on, there would be no personal development.

Buying accounts from random users without a reputation is definitely not worth the risk. But buying an account with a trusted seller saves you a ton of time. Like hundreds of hours that you'd spend training it. So clearly it's understandable why people buy accounts.

I can see both sides to this, the risk is huge even when buying from a trusted supplier as many people claim to be OO when infant they are not, you risk losing your initial investment in the account, your time spent levelling the account and any wealth you may have transferred onto the account.

a much safer way to get your desired account is to create your own and pay for a hand skill training service.
