Why do people request bans for themselves?

i always scroll through the forums to find people banned then i read the fine print(self-requested ban). and i think uhmmm okay..weirdo. can anyone clarify why people do this? i always thought it was because they felt guilty about something

 

They want a break from sythe, leaving permanently, accounts hacked.
Those are my guesses.

 

Mainly they are taking a break and lock their account just to be sure nothing bad happens while they are away. Good thing to do if you ever go on holiday.

The main reason for 'Self-requested bans' are people going holiday and if they're trusted will not risk there account, also if a player notices a virus/keylogger then will get it self-requested until it is safe again, they get unbanned when they ask 'em.

Sometimes they don't want to come back. Saying you need a break but leaving the temptation there doesn't usually work out.

 

A few exambles are TheBlackTux/Diego needed to focus on school so he got a self requested ban but sometimes when people, especially who are extremely trusted, get hacked, they request a Self Ban so that no one can try to scam using their names.

 

I considered doing this as well for my exams, and I've done it in the past on other forums too

 

I learned that I can be away for a year before the temptation is to great and pulls me back in. Should've requested a ban.

 

So people can get a grip on life. And some do it so others can't make fake emails and act as the user while the real one is gone. Self ban is basically a lock on their account so only they can get back on it.
