Then with that logic, what makes you think he'll care about this thread?

This is just concentrated drama if you know nothing will come out of it.

To argue against the unfair treatment of members and less harsh rulings for them as others have gotten for the exact same thing just because of who they were.

And I kinda wish I could quote some staff posts. That would help this greatly. Ohwell.

Why do certain members get special treatment?

I'm going to go ahead and answer your thread title.

They get special treatment because moderators usually do not spam or break rules intentionally and they are part of the staff that help keep the website managed, so banning them will bring no benefits.

Nothing ever comes from anything, but that doesn't mean you do not fight for what you believe in. My objective is to right a wrong, not to cause drama. Yes, some drama comes from it, but I kept it to a minimum.

And I know it is literally impossible to change the staffs minds about anything... Well. With logic anyways. Time seems to make their mind change very easily. But. That doesn't mean I won't try.

It's still kind of hard to know who exactly you're talking about. A name would maybe help stop some of this unneeded posts and comments on this thread.

Banning what ever his name is for phishing years ago benefits no one. All it does is hurt people. No good came out of banning him at all.

I've hinted at numerous cases now... And issues. Not all of them have names. First post. Obviously about Finn, but I've also brought in Syed and other things that were talked about during my time as Staff.

Well it all boils down to whether the staff member is appreciated as a staff member. If they are, they will be treated specially and will be able to evade small accusations and bans. However if they are causing too much trouble the staff can decide to ban them, which is completely fine as long as it's majority vote or an administrator's decision.

Yet. In either case. Nothing comes from banning an admin for scamming like 9302932032 years ago. Nothing comes from banning some random dude for phishing 94834039 years ago. It just hurts sythe and them. So. Why do it?

To protect the community and sometimes to relief anger toward that member. For example, if an administrator hates someone, they can dig up or use any evidence against them to get rid of them from the community. While this will hurt the website in terms of traffic, it will improve it in terms of excluding the hated members.

The difference is, is that Admins that scammed Years ago aren't running around sythe flaunting their mistakes when its clearly against the rules, however, The phisher is, People will report him for that statement, and if the Staff didnt act upon "I phished accounts sometime" as a report. It would lead to criticism.

Many people seem to hate Finn... That means he is hurting the community. We should ban him... Right.

Yet, its common knowledge. I have admitted my mistakes. I will again.

I HAVE RECOVERED OLD RUNESCAPE ACCOUNTS BY ABUSING THE RECOVERY PROCESS. The accounts were level 3s, that just were made because they have a good name. People were getting permed for this. I don't know if they still are, but I admitted that. Guess what. I wasn't banned.

It doesn't matter what the community thinks. It depends on the staff's decision. If the majority of the admins hate him they could probably get him removed. However, there have been multiple attempts to get him banned by the community which have failed.

After looking at that dispute... I've become very disappointed. Finn scammed once. He changed. Can't that guy change too? Just because Sythe knows Finn personally doesn't mean he should be let off the hook. Who's to say that that guy hasn't changed as well?

I am also a perfect, misunderstood example. I was permanently banned a few months ago, because I admitted to taking someone's full Saradomin back in old RuneScape. Of course, I ran away before he told me to transfer it for him, but that's not the point. If you didn't know the full story, you would figure I scammed him out of his full Saradomin in about 2004. This was not the case, yet I was banned for something unrelated to Sythe, and it was before Sythe, and four years before my join date, let alone 6 years before now. I don't even go into the market anyways. Should I have been banned? I don't think so, not knowing the full story. I support SuF's reasoning, and if I get permed for this post, I really don't care, I was supporting a valid cause, and the ban would be invalid anyways.

I have to agree with Suf and Gurtaton in this case. Just because he phished years and years ago, he shouldn't remain banned. Finn scammed before he joined, should he banned?

All I'm saying if Finn isn't banned then he shouldn't be banned.
If Finn is banned then he should be banned.

Proof is not necessary when the person himself admits it.

Honestly, I'm sure we've all done stupid things in the past, especially when we were younger. People change over time, as I'm sure Finn has.

Also, I believe that if you have contributed a lot to the community, you should be given another chance (depending on the severity of the offense).
