Why can't chemotherapy cure AIDS?

Could someone explain why? I have no idea and need an answer.

 

I think it has something to do with the type of cells the viruses (malignant and AIDS) actuall are. I think chemo can prolong a persons life, but can't cure it indefinitely.

Like I said, I *think*; somebody with higher intelligence will probably correct me.

 

Chemotherapy kills cells. AIDS is a disease that is a deficiency of cells.

 

chemo also kills your immune system, same thing as aids(hiv)

 

HIV is a virus. Chemotherapy kills cells which are organisms, hence alive. Viruses are not living organisms, they are a basically a piece of RNA/DNA enclosed in a protein coat. Chemo will further destroy your immune system thus making your develop symptoms of AIDS faster.
