Why are rune prices going up?

I have been out of the game for a long time. Was there an update causing the prices of runes to go up as dramatically as they are?

 

Well as it stands running runes isn't the only way of getting Runecrafting xp. Now there is Runespan, a non-profit way of Runecrafting which has more xp/h then any rune running. This has drastically changed the way people go about Runecrafting, most people preferring quick over money, causing people not to run as much.

Tl;dr People aren't running runes anymore and supplies are lower. Demand is still at the same as it was before Runespan so price has gone up.

Thank you. I understood the lower supplies part. Didn't think about the Runespan.

 

Maybe because they plummeted in prices since Eoc, and no one really made them?

 

Most runes became pretty dead content with the EoC updates lol, I'm not sure if people are thinking that runes are gonna go back to being usefull again, i.e blood runes on normal magics so they're buying them up to merch with but it's more than likely.

That and Runespan is a thing now.

 

Runespan is faster to get runecrafting xp now so there is a lack of people doing runecrafting also because of the lack of bots doing runecrafting this may of also raised the price up a bit, Also because not as many people play runescape now compared to a few years ago there is even less people doing runecrafting/selling the runes they have in their bank.

 

rune prices are high especially elemental ones cause they are used for magic spells in eoc which are rather powerfull now

 

Runespan was one of the main reasons, but the lack of bots as well.
