Why are Rares crashing?

Why are rares crashing? is everyone just scared that they are going to totally collapse so everyone is selling now?

I don't see the point in selling a rare if it's a one of a kind item. I think since free trade and wild is going to come back (thus bringing more players) the market on rares is going to explode because of all the new/old players coming.

More players = more people buying rares = price raise?

You are only looking at the demand aspect. The supply will increase as well, causing a balanced effect. In fact, the supply will probably shift hard towards the right, lowering the price. This is because, as Enrique2pe mentioned, these will be veteran players returning. Also rare stakers who were pissed off and quit will return

 

Not all old players had rares. Most of them that quit had drop parties. I think people are going to be really surprised. I think there is going to be a initial drop then people are gonna start buying them up and hording. Especially the stakers.

I think rares will rise. More people with money=more rares being bought/sold.

 

Personaly I belive they are crashing due to the unknown prices of things once free trade comes out, like not knowing what they will be able to sell for sense prices before tradelimit was alottt lower than they are now, about 1/3 of what they are now like santas = 60m now 20m then.

And the fact of alot of old stakers and players from back then that had stock piles of rares that will be returning to put those rares back into the market, like my friend Marc for example he was older staker and a Pro at that, he quit when they took it away and now he is back playing (1 week ago) and he has 211 santas and 22 mask sets and 4 phat sets... That is a nice amount of rares back into the flow of things, and not to mention the Thousands of players returning that might have some as well.

yes. once people are sure of prices, the rares will rise again. (possibly.) nobody knows till it comes.

I believe they're crashing because the rares are going back to their old prices pre-removal of ft/w.

 

Your theory is correct, but unfortunately, you got the opposite thinking.

It's more OLD players = MORE RARES = SUPPLY HIGH = DEMAND DROP

Do you understand? It's not more new players... new players barely get to know rares, so they don't have the ABILITY to buy it. And when someone in the society doesn't have the ability to buy it, prices of things often DROP.

I hope I capitalize some of the main points here. I am AP economics for your reference. So I believe most of my points are correct.

I think these may be the reasons why rares are crashing:

- People are selling rares to stock up pk and staking supplies.
- Current pvp drops (artefacts) will most likely be removed. These artefacts can be directly swapped for coins. (people swapping these into coins at npc -> billions of gp's produced daily -> inflation.) Now these drops are going to be removed -> deflation (basically everything is crashing).
- Panic sellers
- Some people that have quit have started to play again. Might bring some rares into market.

 

Prices will drop until demand = supply, it's called price equilibrium so we might not see them rising for quite some time.

As for the drop I think everyone is worried about what will happen when free trade, I don't think it has got to do with old players coming back so much. Another idea is that people that previously hoarded rares are selling them off so they can RWT gold easier. More people are likely to buy a few mil than to buy a 70M+ item.

I don't believe deflation will occur because of this, deflation is usually when money is taken out of the economy and artefacts cant really compete with the loss of pking gear in the current wildy, and the often sudden disappearance of large amounts of money from the game. Free trade wilderness seems more appropriate as there isn't much loss just transferring of money (not including pots/food). If anything, RSGP will be inflated due to accounts with large amounts of money stuck on there. The accounts don't necessarily contribute to the economy as much if there just a mule and when these bils get released into the economy it acts as gaining from an external source.

 

They were bought out for manipulation to dump off crashing merches. They were used for streets with junk. I don't think they'll go up just because their rare.

 

I want to thank everyone again for taking this thread seriously and posting great responses. Has opened my mind on the whole situation and viable point on both the situation.

In my opinion, it's because they used to be place holders.
They were worth more then the trade price, not just because they were a rare, but because they had more wealth player wise, then they did GE wise.

Since free trades coming back, there are no place holders, just actual value.

That's just my guess.
