Why are OSRS devs posturing about account services now?..

The community (Reddit) are a bunch of whiny twats but I didn’t think account services were so detrimental to game integrity as OSRS Is making it seem now... can anyone clarify why Jamflex is trying to virtue signal all of the sudden?? Seems like a huge waste of time/resources for the anti-cheating team to chase account services...

My personal thoughts are because account services and gold sellers are literally linked to the same business... what does the community think?

 

I will be the first to say jamflex is wasting their time, and i highly doubt anything will change

they should be investing their money time and effort to bring better content to the game or to re-work dead content

 

I couldn’t agree more. People pay for account services because the early game/mid-game sucks so bad...

 

I am for this. and it doesn't necessarily need to be working on dead content or releasing fresh content.

While there are a lot of people out there that somewhat likes the grind, there are also a lot of people out there that heavily dislikes grinding(hence why they hire services). they really need to find a way to make grinding at the very least slightly more enjoyable. probably without interfering with the mechanics. something like integrating twitch streams into the game.

 

They dont want the service providers to make real life money of the game. Just my opinion

 

I'm pretty sure it's not that simple. They wouldn't care if some players are making money as long as it isn't damaging the game or their reputation.

 

As another perspective, I was part of the HLC/Post-max community which services deeply effected.
Anyone that was able to do services had a gigantic advantage over anyone that was not able to, and getting in to one of the two large service discords as a worker wasn't exactly an easy feat unless you were widely known.
For example, current EHP will put a total cost of around 23b for 200m RC exp. Alting just wasn't viable any more.

If I were still active in that community I would be very happy about the change. But I'm not, so I don't really care.

 

They've been on about it for years with the "its your account, your risk" but then first to complain about people making money from the game illegally.

 

Do people actually get banned for legit services? Or just people gold farming and RWTing it?

 

yeah jagex trying to get rid of the service providers, pretty sure they ban some of the customers too.

 

yes. though chances are significantly lower that's for sure.

 

I think they are going after the south america ips etc, could be wrong.

 

I dont think it's "all of the sudden" just more public facing
