Why are Gas prices so high?

How do you blame oil prices on Bush? Bush isn't making money off of this if he was we would know. You don't become president to make money. We get more oil from Mexico and Canada then we do the middle east.

The prices are higher because they simple can charge more. No one is going to stop buying gas.

The prices are just going to keep going up until somebody figures out how to mass market a renewable-energy using car.

I always hear Canadians and Americans complaining that prices go up like 1-10 cents more. Many European places sell for way more, and I never hear it get mentioned.

 

Gas prices are high because the demand for gas is so high. The demand for gas is so high because the population in the U.S is very large, and rising.

 

That's because America sees pretty much anything uninvolved with it useless and dull. So any American going to Europe would be considered dumb because without personal study, he would know nothing about it. Same goes with European gas prices.

 

The answer is in my previous post, stop saying the same thing over and over again.

But if you call the gasprices in the US high, you should come to Europe, in Holland we pay appox. € 1,50 per liter, that's ~$ 2,35 per liter (4,55 liter = 1 gallon)
so we pay ~$ 10,60 per gallon, that's a bit more than the US

This is where you are wrong.... Bush has millions invested in the oil business, bigger the profits more networth and such is gained by the stock holders.....

He is draining the last bit of money out of america he can before he has to evacuate office...

There is only ever a limited supply of petroleum to go around. Use your head.

 

People will pay high amounts for gas, because there is no other alternative. You need a car in most cases to get from place to place. If people will actually pay for the ridiculously high priced gas, then prices go up.

 

I think the real question here is, why do Americans insist on calling petrol, something that is in LIQUID form, "gas"?

It's like renaming cordial to "solid".

"Oh man I'm going to go drink some solid, I'm so thirsty."

 

Answer: Gas is short for Gasoline.

However, I still call it Petrol/Petroleum.
