Who's the best active Hockey player?

I want to know who is the best player, in your opinion. It would be great if you proved with facts though, videos/photos etc...
I am talking about ACTIVE players, not retired (ie. Gretzky, Lemieux...)

In my opinion, Alexander Ovechkin is the greatest hockey player.

Alexander Ovechkin is a beast! he has totally proved once again this year that he's the best around

 

What I like the most about this year.

Jeff Carter was leading with 28 goals.
Next day, Alexander Ovechkin is leading with 31....

He wasn't even in the top 10, but within 3 games, he went from 13th, to first...
Now he is NHL leader with 49

 

lol, Datsyuk for sure. Not only is he a monster on offense, but he is equally as great on defense. Just check out his +/- if you don't believe me. To be honest, Mr Ovechkin is all offense (not like that's a bad thing) but I'd like to see him improve his defensive game.

 

What are you on? First of all, Jagr DOESN'T play in the NHL. You forgot about Jarome Iginla! What about Brodeur, or Kiprusoff? Zetterberg is another good player.

Also, I find your question extremely vague. What makes a player the best? Amount of goals, or his leadership ability, or is it the amount of wins a goalie has?


First of all, Jarome Iginla IS the best. He's a proven leader, he can get it done offensively. As well, he isn't afraid to get into a fight to defend teammates. He's the ultimate leader/player. Ovechkin has what on Jarome Iginla? Goals. [sarcasm] Yeah, right, he's better. You win. [/sarcasm]

 

As 0wn_dem_rune_rocks said, it's a bit vague, but I'd say Ovechkin because I really like him.
There's a lot of good players I like but my vote goes to Ovechkin.

 

Im going with Crosby, just purely because watching him play is awesome. You just sit there waiting for the next moment of brilliance.

 

like semin said, what's so special (or great) about crosby?... malkin is better than crosby and the team actually does better without crosby.


but to answer the question... offensively, ovechkin is the best player. theres no doubt hes the best goal scorer in the game right now.

 

Ovechkin is more entertaining to watch then all of them regardless so I would go with that.

I agree. He does play good on defense though.
I was at the Flyers/Capitols game last Thursday,and he made an incredible save on a breakaway. He dove and swatted the puck away just in time.
He has his moments on defense, but I agree, he is much more of an offense player.

I was talking about forwards/Defensemen. NOT goalies.
Goalie, hands down, is Brodeur. Just passed most wins in history and set new record.

What makes a player the best???
How many times they have overcome so many obstacles to help out their team. For example, scoring tying goal in dying seconds, scoring game winning goal in overtime. Coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the game 4-2 (Ovechkins Hat trick, and Backstroms empty Net) and they way he uses his skills to play the game of hockey to his full ability. And Ovechkin, demonstrates those skills PERFECTLY.

Ovechkin has SO much more on Iginla. Maybe not in leadership, but in other categories yes.
Skills competition, Ovechkin wins hands down.
Leadership, I agree, Iginla.

We aren't debating about facts here. Everyone is a good player in their own way, that's why they are in the NHL.
Personaly, Ovechkin is the best.

Jagr USED to play in the NHL. Now he's playing in Russia. He is still an ACTIVE player though.
Plus, please point out where I stated that it has to be an NHL player? It could be any player in the world that actually plays in a league.

Crosby. He is a beast, young, and full of talent. You're forgetting Rick Nash too. Jagr would be my 2nd, Nash my 3rd. Jagr + Lemieux on the penguins was an amazing combo.

Ovechkin is amazing, so is Crosby even though I dislike him a little.
But, we need to put these two aside.
So... If I couldnt pick those two... I would pick....
Iginla I think. Maybe you should add him and Dan Heatley : ) ? I think they are top goal scorers year round every year in the NHL.. anyways bye

 

I vote for Ruslan Fedotenko, for him to come in and replace Marian Hossa, who did really good in the previous season was amazing. I haven't seen a replacement player play that well in a long time.

But I'm putting my vote on Crosby, he led my long time favorite team to victory.
