White nationalist rally: What we know about deadly crash - CNN

I'm sure many of you heard the news about the White Nationalist Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Rally led to clashes which subsequently led to the death of 1 person and left many injured. The purpose of said rally was to "take America back", confirmed by former KKK leader, David Duke.

What are your thoughts on the movement and the significance of it?

I don't think you understand what led to the creation of BLM. Police brutality and White Nationalism are two completely different things. Antifa I believe is an anti-facist group, so are White Nationalists facists? I've seen many of those participating in the rally wearing/demonstrating facist beliefs, although it's hard to label all as such being as it's a collective of more than 10 different groups. With that being said, do you condone the rally and actions of those who participated in it?

Have you heard Antifas chant? Also BLM turned into a racist movement, no matter it's origins.

I shouldn't answer your questions because I've had experiences in my life that I believe have shaped opinions that are not always appropriate to share. I shouldn't have replied to this thread in the first place and would like to back out of this discussion.

I have not heard their chants. Can you link me? BLM turned racist in what way?

You're free to voice your opinion, that was the point of this thread.

BLM has turned into a racist movement. I'm not even Caucasian and I believe that it has. Everything is the white mans fault now. Everyone in the world feels like they deserve something for free so they lean on race as a crutch. Everything is about race now it didn't use to be that way but as soon as something goes wrong in the world it turns into a race issues. As for the white power not a fan but both acts are in fact even if not intended BLM in the case are both race based movements.

I think you're very mistaken. Things have been about race for centuries.

Also, this specific rally were white supremacists with nazi symbols using the same chants during Hitler's reign, how more unamerican can you get? There was a world war because of it and now it seems there's nothing wrong with it being marched around in America. Disgusting.

I heard about this because the NHL put up a bit about it because the nationalists use the Detroit Red Wings logo. They said they're wanting to sue for damages if possible, which is great to here. Get them from all angles and make them pay as much as possible.

Their chant is "No KKK, no Fascist USA, No way." Some throw in Trump.

This isn't horrible in itself but they've been very violent especially in Berkeley. Did you hear about the master lock in a sock incident?

They have their beliefs which is fine but their demonstrations have been disruptive and violent. It's not surprising that a rally hosted by their opposition was demonstrated similarly.

The only difference is that white supremacists and alt rights have historically been labeled as terrorists while these new groups on the left are portrayed as victims or heroes by the liberally dominated media.

With that being said I don't support the use of violence at these rallies but the leftist riots in California have set the precedent and it's not a surprise that violence occurred yesterday in Charlottesville.

White nationalists have held rallies for decades without these extremities. Recent events have built tension in the world and things are rapidly changing. A lot of people don't like it.

To support the end of my last post... Setting aside the fact that Hillary won the popular vote, 60 million people in America don't like the way things were going.

    60 million.

It's not hard to believe that ~1,000 of them wanted to demonstrate it on the East Coast yesterday.

Or that one of them had homicidal tendencies.

Yeah, but the end result in this case are hate groups. BLM and antifa have become sick parodies of what they were supposed to be. They don't do anything but start confrontations in the streets and fuck shit up. If any of them had any sense or motivation to actually seek a solution to the issues they claim to stand against they would take off their masks, quit rioting/looting/attacking people and participate in their local government making changes from within. MLK is rolling in his grave.

BLM regularly chant racial epithets and encourage people to kill cops (especially white ones). Theres hundreds of videos (on yt and liveleak) of their "protests" backing this. They're a terrorist group plain and simple.

Fuck anti-fa, the alt-right, BLM and these neo-nazi chumps. Not a damned one of these groups is actually advancing any of their supposed causes.

How about BLM and walking around stomping on the American Flag. How about the fact more white people are killed by cops in a total year then blacks and or mexicans. Disgusting. I will give you the fact that maybe things have been about race maybe it's more that the media makes it worse then it is and promotes it. Maybe we should all just realize that we should be working to make the world a better place and not be killing and harassing people who bleed the same blood we do.

It has turned into a racist movement how? The movement started due to excessive police brutality on African Americans. Since then, the media, as well as those who've opposed it have been twisting the narrative of the group to benefit their own agenda. If it was simply a racial matter, why would the group target and shame police of equal complexion?

You're saying you don't support the violence happening at the rally in specific, but give reason for justification in saying "they do it so it's okay if another group does". I don't understand the logical reasoning behind this. BLM protests, White Nationalists hold rallies to showcase and exhibit their bigotry and hatred. One group wants justice, the other wants injustice. That itself should be clear.

You're labeling a whole group due to the actions of individuals acting out. Calling BLM a terrorist group is surely a joke.

Of course white people get killed by police more than any other race in America, they are the majority. If we measure by per capita, there is a distinct difference that displays otherwise.

I did not give reason for justification. I said it's not surprising that the event replicated rallies held by other parties.

Both groups are representing their desire for justice. Both groups have different ideas of justice. Determining who's idea is right is a matter of personal opinion. You are entitled to decide who is right just as much as the thousands of white supremacists who picked the other side and decided to demonstrate.

What justice are White Nationalists hoping for? If we're talking semantics, "just behavior or treatment" doesn't necessarily align with what they want. You're also justifying the group again. You should re-read what you're saying.

Labeling a whole group anything other than a terrorist organization because of very few individuals is surely a joke, and so is that article. It lists "they got a megaphone at the DNC" as some huge achievement, "Got Bill Clinton to loose his cool" was there too. Sounds like an "organization" of mediocre trolls and violent hoods. I'm all for advancement in civil rights and definitely see issue with a lot of what has been going on but starting shit in the streets, trolling politicians (who were on your side no less) and disrupting conventions with megaphones isn't the way to do it.

To any single accomplishment anyone claiming to be under the BLM banner has made I can find you a dozen crimes, acts of blatant racism and steps backward. The most comical aspect of the BLM movement is the fact that they completely ignore the black on black crime which factually kills hundreds if not thousands more of them yearly than the police do or ever have. MLK is still spinning.

BLM a terrorist organization? You're aligning the group with actual terrorist organizations such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Ku Klux Klan, and the Talibans. That doesn't really sound right. You said they aren't advancing as a group, but was able to sue the city for compensation, get on a big platform, get a school to back out of funding prisons, and launched a campaign aimed to combat police violence and it's proven to have worked (body cameras). I'm pretty sure the group deals with police violence against African Americans, not black on black crime, although it has aimed to help by having council meetings that specifically aim to help young African American youths.
