Which chaotic for 1 def pure?

My pure is close to 80 dungoneering, but I have no idea which Chaotic I should buy. I'm stuck between rapier and maul. I know the rapier is amazing, and it's like a whip on crack, but the maul is pretty beastly too. With the maul, I was thinking of PKing F2P style, with range/2h. Use a rune c'bow to bring em down, and whip out maul for the KO. One con to using the maul is that it works better with Veng, doesn't it? And this account will never have veng, unfortunately. A downside to rapier that I can think of is the fact that the best offhand a 1 def pure has access to is Unholy Book, which means I lose the great str bonus from a defender, so I might as well have a 2h weapon.

I'd go with maul if you are mainly PvP but if you are training/slaying aswell as PvPing then get rapier, which is also great for staking.

Rapier and maul are both great for pking. I'd go with a maul just for high hits, like you said, range to maul.

 

Rapier is overall better but maul def for PVP...Since your mostly done with strength training, I go with maul...

 

I think it's up to yourself really.

Both are really good weapons. Depends if you want faster, but lower hits, or slow and high hits, that you could K0 with.

 

Maul to granite maul would be a great combo seeing as how Gmauls are cheap as chips right now

Wow I actually never thought of that. Plus, granite mauls won't protect over Chaotic Maul. Not a bad idea.

 

rapier by far in my opinion.

 

Rapier hands down. You'll be very disappointed if you pick a maul over a rapier. Rapier hits constantly, even on tanks.

 

stake insted and use rapier and "whip stake"

I'd still go with a rapier.
Even if you pk a rapier is really good for PKing.
It's also good for PvMing or whatever else you feel like doing

If you're only pking then I'd go with maul just cus its so amazing for KO's. But if you're thinking about staking too then get a rapier cus it can be used with great effectiveness in the wildy and duel arena.

Rapier definitely. The DPS is much better than maul. Maul is only good for comboing, and even then I personally think you'll be disappointed. Just my opinion, though.
