    Job Help - Depression/Anxiety

I'm 17 years old and have currently been unemployed for a month or two. I was working in a very stressful environment.
I was stressed out constantly and they set me up to work hours which I put on my resume I was completely unable to work.

Because of all of this, it made my depression and anxiety go through the roof. Every shift I worked had me thinking very depressing thoughts.
When I was finally off work, all I could think about was how miserable I'll be during my next shift. It made my life completely and utterly miserable and unenjoyable.
I ended up quitting because it actually got to the point where I was having suicidal thoughts.

My mother/step-father did not approve. They are not helping in the slightest. My mother full-out tells me that I am being lazy, or I'm being a "picky little princess".
She tells me "that's life, you'll have to get over it" but no one deserves to feel like that. No one should want to kill themselves because of a job. It isn't normal.
(Also, she refuses to pay/help me pay for a psychiatrist. We have no money issues at all and can afford it)

I turn 18 next month and can't help but feel completely worthless that I am unemployed. My boyfriend finally got a full-time job, but I feel like crap because I don't feel like I'm putting anything on the table. (We both still live with our parents)

The deal my mother and I made is that I get to live at home, but only if I either go back to school or start paying rent, which I clearly cannot afford.
Because of this, I will be going back to school for a year to further my education. My boyfriend's mother is willing to take me in when she finds a new home.
She's more of a mother to me than my own mother.

All I'm really asking for is a way to make a bit of cash online or any other way from home. I've heard about a lot of sites that pay you to take surveys, but most of them are scams.

Other than that, what are some ways to help my stress/depression/anxiety if I must get a new job? I'd love to hear some of your stories.
I've never met anyone else with a similar situation and it's making me feel completely alone.

Do you guys have any tips for me? Should I deal with the depression and find a new job? Find a job I can do from home? Tell my parents to stick it and move out?
Any and all help is appreciated. Constructive criticism is appreciated, but please just be gentle. I'm a sensitive little girl lol.

Have you ever considered taking medications for the anxiety/depression?

For years, my mother has been telling me I need medication but never does anything about it.

I was seeing a psychiatrist for a while but ended when the school year ended since that's the only reason why it was free. My mother refuses to pay for me to go see one, so I'll hopefully be able to get some more help when I return this year.

You shouldn't take medication, it's a very bad thing to do and you'll feel even worse.
And about a job, just look around what people offer here on sythe. I am sure you will find something you can do yourself (eg questing service, skilling ..) if you have a lot of spare time I'm sure you'll find something you can do.

As for the depression and anxiety, try to find something to take your mind off of it. I struggled with depression a fair bit growing up, and what really helped me was finding a couple things that helped distract me, that I enjoyed. For me, it was ultimate frisbee and weightlifting, but it may be different for you. Try a number of things that you never have before, and you may just find a lifelong hobby :)

I've been playing RuneScape for years as my escape from reality, but I'd like to start doing others things fitness related. I'll hopefully be able to take a fitness class this year.

that's nothing. I been unemployed for like 6years. I am similar to you. I get severely depressed even walking into a fast food joint or post office. your subconscious is telling you there's something wrong in your life. fix it. you're on your own in this world. embrace it. think outside the box. I have avoidance personality disorder and can't even tolerate making eye contact with anyone. age 27. Be grateful you learned all this early on in life.

Thank you for sharing your situation :( it mans a lot to me since I feel very alone in all of this. I hope things get better for you.
If you don't mind me asking, have your parents been supportive about it?

Like you mentioned earlier, I would definitely start looking into getting on a basic workout routine. Just start off 1-2 days a week for roughly 30 mins and increase it when you feel needed. If you can't make it to the gym, or can't afford it at the time, you can workout from home. Google is your bff. Search for quick at-home workouts, and that should help your mental well-being a bit. To help with the depression/anxiety, I would seek a wellness store in your area and look for some natural everyday vitamins/supplements. Be sure to choose something that is high in B-12 vitamins and Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Pair that with probiotics and you have a solid remedy to help fight depression and anxiety.

RuneScape is fine at times; however, fitness is more of a release for me. There is a difference coming back in the day tired and sore after a good workout and feeling fresh the next day and excited, as opposed to tired and groggy at the end of a long gaming day. It's better for you, and it personally makes me feel better, more awake, and more active. As Newton's law says, once an object is in motion, it will stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Translated to this, once you're up and moving, it's easier to stay up and moving :p

Thanks for sharing your situation. I know what you mean about it completely wrecking you. I'm already underweight and this is not helping at all. I'm so glad things are better for you!

Yes! My local gym is free for students every Friday which is amazing. I'll definitely start going there and do an at-home workout once or twice a week as well. Thanks for all of the advice!

I definitely know what you mean. There's no better feeling than going for a nice workout and then taking a long shower.

Thank all of you for such amazing advice and sharing your situations. It truly means a lot to me and makes me feel much less alone.

Trust me, don't ever try that unless you're feeling really suicidal

^ Don't enter the void too soon! I'm sure it will give you another view on life, however, haha.

    Take this for advice...

Think about having vs wanting to.

If you HAVE to do something, whether it be cleaning dishes or going to a job you don't necessarily find beneficial. You don't usually give it 100% your best grade A effort, right?

    However,

When you WANT to do something, such as do a specific kind of work or make a certain food. Don't you usually put a little more pride in it? Don't you want to achieve and give it YOUR BEST!

Think about your life and the haves you're doing vs the wants you may or may not be doing. It may spark something ;)

There is a lot of depression/anxiety so you're definitely not alone, and won't be the last, sadly.

About the medication thought. I tried it awhile ago and it did not help at all! would definally not recommend it unless you're not able to live without it. The drug helped for the anxiety and depression, but the side effects were horrible.:(
