So this is one thing thas has annoyed me, sometimes when people doesn't post enough proof, a mod/admin closes the thread and doesn't give the guy a chance to post more evidence, this leads into a new thread and loads of anger.

So what i suggest is that you give the guy who posted the scam report another 24 hour chance to respond once that you've ( mod/admin) posted on the thread saying "not enough evidence ( and the reason why )"

At least 90% of the time, the person has supplied all they can. We encourage you to make a new report, but for time's and organization's sake, we usually just close the thread. There was a time where we would leave them open for a week, but the Report a Scammer section just got too bogged down.

Yeah I mean, why would they leave out some evidence in the original report?

For both : It may be the first time they file a report.

First time or not, usually threads left open will just rot. We usually do leave some threads open where the additional evidence is easy to get, like requesting a screenshot of a PM or asking for proof for a MSN match. However, if the person provides no proof or chat logs, there's no reason to leave it open. There's an incredibly good chance that the person never took the shots of the MSN chat window, and leaving it open would just muck everything up.

Like I said, in the off-chance that the person has viable proof, making a new report won't hurt. I'm always careful to say this in the closing message of all scam reports.

I've done some research and I've noticed that you are the only mod that leaves thread open, I compared you to firez and he seems to be the worse mod when it comes to helping people with scam report (not hating on him). Closing every single thread after posting, and im guessing that thats not how it should be,since if thats the way it should be you would of been closing all the thread if you know what I mean.

Some mods leave them open but if there is absolutely no proof which happens a lot I see no reason why it should be left open, http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1109411 the sticky basically walks you through how to make a proper scam report, in most cases where there is decent proof and a little more is needed the thread is usually left open for the person to post what is needed.

That doesn't make any difference, people should
Be able to dill out more proof in any case

There are some reports which should be left open. I will take for example Skype chat logs, which can be screenshot AFTER closed. Some other cases may apply, but that's absolutely mod's choice.

Either the case and the mod's choice, if a user have full evidence after posting poor one(Such as their first report and not knowing what to do) they will eventually post new.

From another POV, encouragement to post a new one should be giving if either leaving it open or closing it.

I really do not see the problem here, you can file as many reports as you want, there is no rule on that.

If the initial thread is closed due to a lack of proof, just copypasta the original info and add the additional proof.

You can on top of that always PM the mod that locked it in the first place in order to unlock it.

'Done some research' meaning you've just glanced in the RaSc section..?

Just read the stickies and include ALL the information that we ask for in the one scam report, there won't be a problem then.

That isn't the case, I remember FireZ made an announcement "24 hours without a response = locked." Browsing through the RaSc isn't "research," a lot of mods keep it open when there's only a few more required proofs (i.e. paypal picture, MSN proof, PM picture, etc.), but if there isn't they shouldn't be required to keep it while all it does is clog up the RaSc. The moderators have stated it multiple times, "feel free to make a new thread with the required evidence."

Quickly going to RaSc I found three threads that proved what I've stated above:
http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1309059
http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1314064
http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1311393

When there's threads with just generally insufficient evidence, leaving them would just clog up the RaSc, there's no rule against making a new thread with the required evidence.

they could just make a new thread and actually post proof instead of saying ("member" scammed me please ban him) which are majority of the threads which get closed where there is nothing but chat logs or accusations. Also cluster creates a big problem within 24 hours there can be 20 scam reports which may have to stay open for 24 more hours if they have no proof, and the next day there could be 20 more which would be 40 scam reports to deal with and not only that re organizing would be needed to ensure the threads which have passed the 24 hour limit are closed whereas those which haven't remained open, most of the people who throw those accusations and post threads generally have no proof at all which would result in the thread being closed in 24 hours anyways. This will end up leading back to the problem where there was 3+ pages of scam reports again. If a mod sees fit they normally give 24 hours to post more proof and that is in most cases trade acceptance, proof of paypal, or something very easy to put up within 24 hours.
