I think staff should refrain from posting and bumping the thread of the person in question (which is what they wanted initially.) As an example, see here: http://www.sythe.org/gold-swapping-...u-linked-swapping-rs3-07-gold-best-rates.html

Instead, removing the post in question, infracting, and PM'ing the user is probably a better route given the nature of the report. Bumping the thread with a post just gives them the exposure they wanted.

I usually post if the user hasn't been warned/infracted before, before littering their profile with infractions; but I guess it's just personal moderator preference. It doesn't matter much anyways, IMO.

If I can't find previous warnings on their thread I usually post it so that they can see it.

If they have previous warnings I infract them for excessive bumping and delete the posts as well :)

it would be easier to pm them or infract them without infraction points. I never read the posts on my threads

Understandable, but wouldn't a PM suffice? Posting on the thread gives them the bump they wanted.

I guess it defeats the purpose if I'm bumping it again, but I feel it's easy for them to see the warning on their thread and won't do it again. I'll try PMing them instead, thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, I felt the same way.

No worries, glad you're able to take the suggestion constructively, many aren't able to do that. Great response time on the report.

ppl gets a pm when they receive an infraction
when ppl see this to hard, like one infraction for one wrong bump, sythe could maybe get a warning system, like a mod warns an user and when they get like X warnings, it will count as 1 infraction point or something like that

Generally a staff member should check to see if they've been warned, and if they have they should be infracted

In my opinion the current staff team is fairly lenient when handing out infractions. As for this suggestion I may start pming instead of bumping their thread.

I've never received a warning, it was always infract first. I am in support of deleting the latest bump post and giving them a warning.

Just update it so you can't make another post within 8 hours. It would solve everything.

Same here, especially when a certain mod has a vengeance out to get you aha, bumped a thread like 10 minutes too early and got infracted instantly no warning.

OT: But I do agree with this suggestion when I report a thread for excessive bumping and it gets dealt with 2-3 hours later sometimes with another bump from the staff member, kinda makes you feel like not reporting them.

I suggest a bump button that allows you to bump only ever couple of hours.

This, make it so if you post again it merges with your most recent one and doesn't bump the thread.

However if someone else replies to the thread, you can reply even within 8 hours.

This will disrupt future threads. Individual consecutive posts are necessary for most threads.

I second this, one of the best ways to solve the issue. Ever 8 hours you can click a bump button
