What's the worst crime?

I was having a discussion with my sister about this, and I immediately said "murder". However, she seemed shocked - rather, she thought rape was the worst crime. She gave a good reasoning for it too - with murder, the action's done, but with rape, the action lives on with you for the rest of your life.

Now, I still believe murder is a more worse crime, but this is probably because I'm not female and I cannot contemplate someone raping me.

So anyways, what is, in your opinion (with reasoning as well, hopefully), the worse crime that could ever be committed? Note that this isn't limited to rape and murder - theft, torture, pedophilia, and whatnot can also be included. Just give some justification with your responses!

 

Just because you're not female doesn't mean you can't contemplate being raped. Plenty of men are raped, even if the majority is women.

As for the worst crime, I think it depends on the situation. On legality terms, one could say torture, but on more of a morale-compass, torture could be 'right." For example, if someone were to harm, say my daughter (which I do not have.) You better bet I'd make sure they get what's coming to them, 10 fold.

Ex: Watch the movie Law Abiding Citizen, that's a horrible "crime", but fully "justified", well IMO. -- Talking about the torture scene --

As for my opinion, I don't have any specific crime I think is horrible, but a crime that lingers on for a victim's life. Rape is just one example due to the psychological effects it can cause, just like pedophilia and such. I would of said the worst crime to me is pretty much anything that prohibits someone from functioning to their fullest ability due to repercussions, but there's the flip side.

Even though someone's life has been greatly altered, the one who had been murdered no longer has his/her life. They aren't given that chance to continue living, and one is robbing them of that chance to live their life.

Both crimes have their "pros and cons" and I honestly don't have any general opinion, depending on the circumstance; I think different crimes can be worse than others. For example. if a 90 year old man was murdered, and a 10 year old girl raped I'd say the girl's crime is worse. The man had 90 years to experience life while the girl will now face repercussions from the crime her entire life.

 

Just plain straight homicide.

 

Coming from someone who father is in prison, I can tell you the child molesters. I consider that shit crazy. People like that deserve prison.

 

Id say scamming. Its not fair to take someone else's money/property and get away with it.

 

To be honest no crime is worse than the next, the thing that makes it bad is when the person who commits and perhaps keeps commiting it isent stopped. The worst crime is the crime of knowing we cant stop crime.

 

Torture.

It can come in many ways; Directly, indirectly or a chain effect.

Murdering someone, you play god, but it isn't so bad on the victim. He's dead and he experienced crucial pain for a brief moment. But when you torture someone, there are many ways on how one could get tortured. Taking a family from a woman, her husband and all her kids. There is nothing like losing your whole family, that is torture and despicable. Then there's killing someone, someone may have just lost his best friend, that is also torture for them.

Depending on how, it has a high chance of living through more than 1 person's life.

In the end murder is similar to torture, at least it would usually have that effect. Murder a person, you would cause the people close to him mental anguish. Torture pushes you to your limits and you can't just end it even if you wanted to.

 

Pollution. Humans have always killed, raped, and otherwise maimed other humans for as long as we lived, not because nature compels us, but because people literally have nothing better to do, or are driven genuinely psychotic one way or another. Everything we do to ourselves varies drastically in our own eyes, and that reason itself makes it hard to categorize crimes from bad to worst. We condone murdering in the name of our countries, torture in the name of marriage, and stealing in the name of taxes; we cringe at murdering men and woman we can sympathize with, torturing helpless souls, and stealing from our neighbors; but what does the rest of the world care? Animals don't give a shit if we shoot each other, the planet doesn't care if humans are homeless. What it truly cares about, what truly impacts every living thing on earth (and is therefore the most dire in my opinion) is how we're slowly killing the planet through pollution and unnatural changes to the environments. The most recent atrocity I can think of on this subject is the FDA's campaign to create "frankensalmon" to replace the natural, fertile and healthy salmon of the ocean. What sick twisted bastard came up with that? He/she/they should get a worst punishment than the perps of the last three shootings combined.


What will any crime matter once there isn't a habitable planet for ANYONE, man or beast alike, to live on after we've driven it to polluted death? There won't be air left in the lungs of judges to condem our criminals to jail or death

 

I'm most against murder, because it robs ones chance at living life, almost always against their will.

 

Every crime is bad in one way or another because 99% of the time someone is affected in some shape or form, obviously severity varies.

I'd say 'life changing' crimes that affect the victims/family's such as murder, rape, kidnapping and pedophilia are probably some of the 'worst'.

 

Not actually 99 % my friend there are crimes like Pi, dwi, littering, speeding there are loads of crimes that affect 1 person only, that leads to other things like warrents and all that stuff so not 99 % of crimes affect people.

 

By government standards Murder is worse than rape. I had a friend, who I will proudly say is no longer my friend and never will be again, he raped a girl. The only amount of jail time he got was waiting for his court date. He got NO fines. He got NO time. All he had to do was put his name on a sex offenders list. Now, not to long ago, I got arrested for HALF OF A GRAM of marijuana that was in a grinder that I had on me. I got charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. I went to court and you know what I got? $713.00 USD in fines and my drivers license taken away, AND I WASNT EVEN DRIVING WHEN I GOT ARRESTED!!! so actually, possession of a substance less harmful than alcohol is considered a worse crime than rape by our government.


Now, my opinion. I think in some cases rape is worse, and I think in some cases they are equally as bad.

Some people just deserve/want to die. So, well in this case rape is much worse because if the person deserved or wanted to die, fuck em. I dont think it was wrong at all to kill the bastard.

They are equally as bad when the victim of the murder is an innocent person who did NOT deserve it.

 

There are many awful, horrific crimes, for me it's difficult to make comparisons between them and say 'this is worse than that' and 'this isn't as bad as that' etc.

 

As I do agree with you that the are scum's of the earth, I do not think prison is fit for them. We're paying taxes which is going toward taking care of these animals. In my eyes if you want to take the innocents of a child via molesting/rape/torture..etc you deserve death.

 

I agree with some of the statements above Child Molestation is a Very serious Crime or rape of a younger person in general male or female, I also agree with the statement that in Murder the action is already done, but I can't imagine what it would be like to be raped or molested and have to live with that for the rest of your life.

 

Child abuse and rape etc. I wouldn't like to see what'd happen to a child molester that was locked up in prison.

Child abuse can seriously affect that child and those around them for the rest of their lives, as well as being the most vulnerable members of society.

 

Sexual crimes, just for the pure fact of the person who was affected has to live with it for the rest of their lives. Obviously when it happens with children as stated above its more of a "crime".

 

This. I could think of dozens of reasons to justify murder, and NONE to justify a sex crime. Elderly or mentally handicapped abuse, animal abuse and child abuse and rape are all on a similar playing field for me ...

I know child abuse and rape are more extreme to most people but they all have a similar root, taking advantage of situations a person with any semblance of moral fiber wouldn't even contemplate. Just makes me sick that people could do that kind of stuff.

 

Murder is the same if not worse than rape, the family of the victim has to forever live without one or more of their members and it will still eat at them for the rest of their lives. Rape impacts less people but with the same severity as murder, so I would argue that murder is worse.

 

From just a one person perspective, I'd rather be murdered than brutally raped and mentally scarred for the rest of my life.

If you consider other people, then I suppose death causes more sadness.
