    What's the point?

People do what they like to do. You shouldn't decide what they do with their lives.

    What's the point?

I use it as a form of entertainment, in other words: fun.

I know you didn't want this answer, but there really is no other answer. Fun isn't longterm, because fun just simply does not last. That's why people spend a lot of time on something fun, then after they're "done" they think back to how much time they wasted. They don't have fun afterward, just thinking back to it, but during the actual time they spent, they had fun.

    What's the point?

You have many vouches from trades. You make money for dealing with games. As for the spending money on games and such, sell your computer right now. If you have something better to do than sit on Sythe bitching about how some people spend their time for entertainment, why here?

    What's the point?

Why? Because i enjoy it...why does it matter if it only lasts a couple of years?
All that matters is that you enjoy what you do.

    What's the point?

Playing games with FRIENDS. It's a way to bond together. Maybe runescape isn't the best game to bond with a friend, but I remember a few years ago I had a lot of fun castle pking with my friend over the phone aha.

Playing a game when none of your real life friends play it is.. lonely.

    What's the point?

It's still an addiction. Doesn't change what it is, the severity of the consequences differ from what the addiction is on but ten again you see stories about people who have lost houses/jobs/relationships/family over video games.

    What's the point?

There is no point in video games which is why I never played them in my life farther than my DS games (RS is more business than fun)

It's the person's choice to live their lives in the video game instead of real life for a certain time.

    What's the point?

If they feel like I'm bitching, and controlling people, then I'd rather not hear their opinions. ^_^

    What's the point?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and since you asked the question to a non-specific audience, everyone is entitled to post freely, even if they do think your "bitching".

As for my opinion, it doesn't really matter if it's an addiction or not. You live, have fun, then die. Might aswell make the best of your short time here doing what you like to do whether it be video games, starting a family, getting a job, or bitching on a forum about people playing video games. Ha! Gotcha!

I find it narrow minded that you're saying that all these people are foolish for what they do simply because you're moving onto something else. Let people do what makes them happy if it doesn't harm you. This is my opinion.

    What's the point?

I'm not saying anyone is foolish for playing Runescape. However, I do think they're foolish to spend thousands of dollars on it. There's a huge difference there. ;)

Most I've paid for Runescape was around $20, for a bot, and for another service to be done. And then membership. I don't blow $1000 on RSGP.

    What's the point?

It's exactly the same as putting time into anything else in life. You do things that you enjoy, so what's the big deal?

    What's the point?

It's just a hobby like any other. Playing guitar you really get nothing out of
except it's fun. People spend thousands of dollars on things that they collect
    which also serve no purpose.

    What's the point?

Why is it foolish to spend 1000$ on a MMO? Some people have too much money and CBA to waste their time to get the same amount of money by them self, and just want to enjoy the good stuff in the game.

TBH you make it look like you are some poor kid that is jealous.

    What's the point?

You keep thinking like this and you'll get a life. Is that really what you want..................................................................................The Addiction always comes back..

I don't play much anymore, but how can you resist when a game like Nba 2k11 is coming out.. impossible.
