What would you do if...

What would you do if you found $100 on the ground in an enclosed public room? Let's say, a library, a waiting room, etc.

Would you:

Keep it.

OR

Hand it in, into the appropriate staff/administrative member.

OR

Leave it there.


I'd hand it in. I've done so on several occasions, though the value wasn't quite 100.

 

It's happened to me before with smaller sums of money, but I always hand it in.
I will never forget when I faced a problem of similar nature at the age of 7 when I was at a park. I found a wallet with $40 enclosed and my initial reaction was to find out whose it was to return their belongings. I went around and asked every person I could see around the park and eventually found the owner and gave it to them. I have never forgotten how grateful they were and thus I have always been inclined to act in ways similar in situations like these. It's just who my parents have raised me to be; compassionate.

 

Of course, I'll keep it. It's $100

I would turn it in without thinking as long as I had some form of identification for the individual whom is missing the money. Although, if it was just cash I'd probably wait about 30min-1hour to see if they came back looking for the money. Otherwise I'd just keep the cash because their is no proper way to claim cash. Unless you memorize serial numbers for fun.
Edit: That being said, taking just the cash out and turn in the wallet is a good as stealing to me...

 

If it was in a wallet I would return it. If it was $100 I would probably stay there for an hour or two and see if anyone came to reclaim it.

If I believe there's a chance the owner will come back for it, I would keep it until he/she does. If I have to go and he/she still hasn't come, I would hand it in.

 

depends on the day/situation im in, but i'd either hand it in or keep it. most likely take it and wait around see if anyone came back for it, if not keep it

 

As the other guy said, if it was in a wallet I would hand it in and if it was just in cash I would take it.

 

If it was contained in someones wallet i would hand it in, if it was just on the ground i would keep it.

I'd make sure nobody was looking, and take it. That'd fill up the ol' tank on my truck.

I've found a lot of wealthy things and always handed it in. The emotion the real owners show towards you and the thanks are more wealthy than the item.

 

Keep it, if it was in a wallet I'd keep the cash but I'd turn the wallet to the front desk or other administrative area.

 

Don't lost the money. I'd keep it. Although once I lost 40$ at school, and someone gave it back to me.

 

I'd definitely hand it in. I don't steal.

 

If it is in a wallet, I'd hold onto it until the owner comes looking for it. If it was just the cash alone. I'd just wait for just a while for the owner or sometimes would just keep it depending on my greed mood. I don't agree that taking it is the same as stealing it. Who's fault is it that it got lost? The owners, not mine so his fault made him lose the money. No one stole it, they just found it abandoned.
