Oh gee, there are so many things that could be causing this.
Sometimes when I walk and keep my hand in one spot for too long the tip of my fingers go numb, usually my pinky and thumb. You could be brushing your pinky against something you're allergic to, there may be something stuck inside/under your nail.

You really need to give more information then it just going numb.

From using the computer so much you may have pinched a nerve within your finger which would cause numbing pain. If it's possible I would recommend trying not to use it for a little while and if that doesn't work. I would just schedule an appointment with your general doctor.

Try moving/wriggling it alot more, maybe you're keeping your finger still for a long time.

when you get the "numbness" again stand up and walk around for some minutes and then go back, to where you was but diffrently like maybe sitting in other way.

See a doctor ASAP. My mom had a problem like this. I just asked her and she can't remember the technical name of what was wrong with her arm, but long story short, she waited to long to do something about it.

Have you ever hit your elbow REALLY hard? or hit it very often? Thats what happened to her, she always bumps it on her machine at work.

On her left arm, her pinky and ring finger are completely numb, and she often has pains shoot through her entire forearm. The problem was with a nerve. A doctor may or may not be able to fix it. They told her it was a 50/50 shot. She had to get surgery, "they went in and moved a nerve" (her words) and because she waited to long to go to the doctor, it didn't fix it. It helped for about 3 months and it appeared to be getting better, then just over night the side of her left forearm (the side the pinky finger is on) went completely numb and she no longer has any feeling in that side of her arm nor her pink/ring finger on her left hand. She says sometimes it makes her feel like puking, the way it feels when she lays that part of her arm down on a table or something.

Once and awhile she still gets pains that shoot from her elbow to her finger and vice-versa that are so terrible it makes her entire hand shake to a point that she just drops whatever shes holding without realizing it. GO TO A DOCTOR!

I also agree with the fact they we aren't doctors here and I personally don't think that you should be seeking medical advice on a forum. If it is a major concern for you then go and see a doctor.

I disagree, if he is having the same issue as my mother did and he didn't seek help here and see my advice, he may have been just like her and shrugged it off until it was too late. Medical advice, no you shouldn't get it on a forum in a serious fashion, but if you ask for medical advice and are told you need to see a doctor, youre better off than if you would have just ignored it. (so in a way it DOES help!)

and @OP, I hope it works out for you. I really do hope you don't have the same problem my mom did, but if you do maybe the 50/50 thing was only because she waited to long, if you get to a doctor soon it might be a 100% chance to fix the problem, I honestly don't know but you really should at least make sure that isn't the problem.

She bumped her elbow a lot, but I would expect that if you bump any part of your arm alot of if you had done it extremely hard just weeks or less before the numbness then I'd have to say this is most likely the same problem. Even if you havn't bumped anything ever in your life, I still suggest a doctor visit in order to cross that off of the possibilities at any rate.

Not to start a debate with you. But if someone is in that much pain shouldn't it be automatic to go see a doctor? That advice shouldn't have to come from a forum?

It could very well be that you are using a computer too much. When using a mouse, your pinky finger is very rarely involved and is left in a static position for long period of times.

But you should go see a doctor anyway. Do you also have a pain in your wrist?

My fingers go weird sometimes if I'm on the laptop for too long. But I just get off, have a snack and a drink and play with my dog or walk sound or something and they soon get better. You could be trapping a nerve or something..

But the best advice is to go and see a doctor.

Without reading other posts, the first thing I'd suggest you should seek medical attention. Your health and well being isn't something that should be debated or put off.

Hate to say it, but it really does sound exactly how it started with my mom, when you go see a doctor about it PM me and let me know how it went!
