I bought an account from RS2pleasnt about in Jan 09 and the original owner has recovered it and jagex have realised it has been sold since we were recovering it like 3-4 times a day and now it is like impossible to recover it back now, no one has been on the account in about 2-3 months as the xp hasn't changed.

I've spoke to RS2 and he has tried to recover it..

What should I do?

If you have any proof that it was recovered, then R2 is liable and should pay you. Also the original owner should be banned.

If you dont have any proof of recovery, then i dont think you can do anything. Sorry.

Regardless of if r2pleasent will be able to recover it or not.
R2pleasent is responsible for the sale of the account, if the account is not safe it is worth NOTHING.

Therefore, r2pleasent owes you a full refund of what you paid.

I have this email from Jagex

Dear Stephen,

As per our rules each account should only be used by one person and as you are not the original owner of the account, I’m sorry to say that we have no choice but to leave the account in the hands of the original account owner. I’m sorry to say that the payment of membership on an account does not entitle you to ownership of the account, it only serves as proof that you have had access to the account.

Please also be aware that we have cleaned the account so that all information not set by the original owner of the account has now been removed, as such this the information which has been removed will no longer be able to be used in order to recover access to the account.

If you have purchased the account then you will need to contact the website in question directly in order to discuss the issue. Jagex is not linked to these websites in any way and therefore have no control over any interaction you may have had with them. However if you have purchased the account and can provide us with the relevant details regarding your purchase, I will pass the details to our specialised department who will look to take relevant action against the website in question.

Please be assured that I empathise with your current situation and wish there was more we could do, however it would be unfair on the original owner of the account to allow you access to the account.

You are of course more than welcome to create a new account with which to continue your RuneScape adventure. However before doing so I would politely suggest you take some time to read our Rules in order to ensure this type of situation does not occur again in the future.

I hope I was able to answer your query however should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again via this email address.

Kind regards,

I highly suggest you take a screen shot of that email instead of just copy and pasting.

That's the problem with account businesses...

Even if the recovery test works, the account is still not safe.

Only if the original owner is truly legit, then it means something.

I suggest you contact R2 before filing a scammer's report.

Take screenshots of the email you received from Jagex, it should suffice as evidence.

If R2 does not refund you, then you can file a scammer's report.

I previously seen a case similar to this, and it had to do with r2 too, but things got REALLY messy...

Also, did you earn any more GP after you purchased the account? You can take that into consideration for more compensation.

He said he can't do anything because it was bought 2 years ago?
What should be my next step?

That doesn't matter at all.
He sold an account to you so he is obligated to refund you in full if the account has been recovered by the previous owner.

As a reference, I always had a disclaimer on my Accounts thread. I never claimed to be the original owner, and I always made the buyers aware that I was simply a broker of the deal.

All accounts for sale are property of Jagex Ltd. You are simply paying for the service of me providing you with the account information. I am not claiming ownership in any way, as this violates the copyrights set in place by Jagex. Please note that all accounts for sale in R2Pleasent's Account Shop are acquired from old players. These accounts are handpicked from numerous available, and are deemed to be the safest possible accounts to buy on Sythe.org. Many precautions are taken to assure buyer safety, but ultimately the buyer assumes responsibility once the username and password have been provided. There is always a degree of risk when making an account trade, although it is minimal in this situation.

I would always test recovery information, call the account seller at their home phone number, and request photo identification. For many accounts, the buyers still play them to this day. Others were recovered, and there's little I can do about that at the end of the day.

Furthermore, this is a transaction which took place over two years ago. I have since abandonned the account business as it is simply a cesspool for scammers.
