The first reason basically agrees with what I'm saying, which is Atheism is the belief in no god/nothing, and therefore can be classified with other religions.
I am an agnostic atheist.
However, even thought I do not practice any religion, my favorite by far is Buddhism.
Atheist. Surprisingly it's in the lead![]()
Disagreed, but could you elaborate on "purely agnostic"?. The word "agnostic" ('a': not | 'gnostic': relating to knowledge, especially esoteric mystical knowledge) refers to an admitted lack of knowledge about something. You can be agnostic towards anything really.
An agnostic atheist is an atheist who admits he or she does not know that there is no God, but with the current evidence there is no reason to believe there is one. A gnostic atheist is an atheist who says with absolute certainty that there is no God.
An agnostic theist is someone who believes in a God, but in the same vain admits that he or she does not definitely know. A gnostic theist (which is the vast majority) claim to know with absolute certainty that there is a God.
How is admitting that you do not know a cop-out of anything? It's often the ONLY way to be rational about something, so take pride.
