What really matters at the end of life?

Let's start with the end in the mind, no do-overs, what would really have mattered to you at the end of your life?

 

At the end of my life the only thing that will matter to me is the question "Have I changed at least one persons life in a positive way?" I my goal is to change anyone's life for the better and to save lives which is why I am in the medical field.

 

Making a difference in at least one person's life is a big thing for me. I don't want to go leaving no mark behind.

 

The only thing that really matters is how you die

 

How you die as in if it was with or without suffering ? or do you mean the last few days of life

How are u going to do that? Is it via charity? because i have that goal set via charity.

Indeed with charity. I've also been doing a lot of volunteer work locally at shelter homes and hospitals. It's something that makes me feel good.

 

Just to be clear, this is like.... When you die, what accomplishments/deeds did you do that you will think of to decide if you fulfilled your life or not?

I would ask myself if I took care of the ones I love or not... If I can take care of my family until I die, I will have done what I was put here to do. Even if I die early, as long as I did what I could until then I think is enough.

 

I had a pretty hard time growing up, and as I've matured, my mantra has been to fill each day with something that makes me happy. Whether that be helping someone, meditating or going for a walk.

As long as i enjoyed life as much as i possibly could id be happy

 

That's why you should always choose positive environment / make unforgettable memories

I would say that even though I and the rest of us have had our moments of regret and moments of happiness. I would say that If I was to die I would die knowing that I lived a life consisting of love for myself and the people around me but most importantly my Family. I mess up at times and might have done some things I could live without knowing, but as long as they know I love them and they love me back then I did the one thing that mattered most to me right.

 

Imo how positive of an impact you had on other people. If you were to make the lives of many people better that's one of the best things you could do in your lifetime, when looking in the lon-term perspective.

 

Hmmm, good question!
What would matter for me is not being lonely when my time has come, lately you see so many elderly people who died alone, no friends/family around them sharing his/her last moments.
That's something I don't want to happen.

I have very hedonistic views. I've concluded that world is rather absurd and that maximizing your own happiness with rational egoism and hedonistic goals such as wealth, stability and love works for me. As long as I do things that make my body bump the happiness chemicals which achieves the best state of being, I am content. Also by taking risks I feel entertained and don't have to feel regret or curiosity of if.

I haven't had a bad day in 2019 so far.

 

Don't forget to enjoy/invest/give your wealth !

 

Make enough money so my family can live comfortably. Having made an impact through charitable causes is also important, but I don't care if people remember me for it as long as I know I made a difference.
