What Motorcycle Should I Buy?

I am saving up money to take the training course and buy my first bike. What would be a good one to start out on? I want a sports bike but I heard that they aren't the best to start out on. I also heard to start out around a 250cc but I am 6'3'' and 200 Lbs. I'm not sure if that is a factor or anything.

The CC is the engine size so your height/weight does not effect that. The engine size can also determine how quick the cycle can go. If it's your first bike, don't get a sports one straight away. Start off with a 250 CC at the most. A good sports one would be around 500 CC, Once you are used to riding (1-2 years) then get a sports one

 

I wouldn't suggest riding 250cc for 1-2 years cos it gets boring :x 2 months is alright for a starter, then get suzuki gsx-r750, it looks great and it's great performance. Also I'd suggest yamaha r1... But if you don't like to be fast n furious get an enduro.

 

One is a dirt bike one is a street bike what are you gonna be using it for

 

Well i live in a canyon and i could take the dual sport up the road and have fun. but it would mainly just be used to save gas and such.

 

I think at where I live dirtbikes aren't street legal. But im not too sure, I never see any on the road.

I'd say streetbike if it is to get around but that is personal preference.

 

yzf...if u want a my unrealistic suggestion i say r6 or r1 maybe a gxr...a good bike thats not too powered to start off with is the ninja 650r my cousin started with taht, its decent.

 

Dirt bike won't save you gas

 

I don't really know much about motorcycles but the first one on the picture you showed looks great.

 

compared to a car they will.

Both of the bikes pictured are around $1600. i don't want to pay much more than that.

 

I like the second one more, based off the looks.

 

dont get a street legal dirt bike, its a waste. go for the second one unless you will actually be using it for it's intended purpose

 

I started off on a 600 and I'm not a relatively large person. Just don't be stupid and you'll be fine on the 600. Learn to ride properly and invest in good gear. Personally that's what I'd go with.

 

Get the 600, for your figure anything lesser would be too small. Especially since it's a tad bit older, you wouldn't have to worry about it being too powerful as a first bike.

As opposed to other people, I most definitely would not recommend a gixxer 600 or r6 as a first bike... That is far too powerful, as most newer 600cc + sport bikes are built with the purpose of racing and track use. But a 96 600cc bike seems like a perfect starter for a larger rider.

 

Bottom one.. I've always wanted a bike sorta like that.

 

yeah i have been leaning towards the bottom one as it is a higher cc than the dual sport. if anyone out there can give me advice i would like it. just wondering if it would be good to learn on. any tips would be appreciated too.

 

I like the second bike better but get the first if this is your first bike. You really don't want to start out with something as hard/different as a crotchrocket. They're very touchy and very unstable when being driven by an inexperienced driver.

 

get the yamaha; I personally like it more; you should be fine as long as you drive safely and like a rational person
