What jagex?

So, I just logged out from my computer upstairs, cruise downstairs to the computer in my room, log-in to find a Quick-Chat box open. Think nothing of it until I try to speak, then I realise I have been temp-muted.

The whole point of this thread though is, since when has jagex been handing out offences with no evidence?

In fact, it says I have nothing on either my Ban OR Mute meter yet i'm still temp-muted? I don't really care, doesn't effect me that much, but still, wat?

Probably a P-mod, I'm sure they don't rack up on your mute count...

 

Do player mods have the power to Mute on the spot?

 

Yep, P-Mods can instant mute you for 48 hours until a J-Mod looks at it. Although are you sure you didn't say anything mute worthy or something that could be considered highly offensive?

 

Not that I can think of honestly, myself and a few mates were talking about going out and drinking etc but nothing I would consider overboardly offensive.

That's good to know though, I wasn't aware that they had the power to do that. Although, I did tell one of my friends to download Malwarebytes in chat. It wouldn't surprise me if a P-Mod muted me for that >_<

So does that mean that a J-Mod will either let the Temp run out, or choose to Perm/Make it a longer Temp?

 

A J-Mod will get to the report within the next few hours, you'll see the reason for the muting when they look at it. They'll either leave the 48 hour ban on or extend it depending what you said.

Answered mainly by laptop, but some P-mods like to 'abuse' their powers so even if you didn't say anything bad they might've muted you for just saying 'hi'.

 

Any P/F mods found abusing their power are warned and then if it continues demoted by Jagex, similar to here.
