just thought i would start up a discussion and see what everyone does for a living, i'm currently on my 3rd year of studies as a fitter/machinist apprentice.
Nice man 1 more year then you're a journymang right? I got to take a lil machining in school. Just basic lathe metal work making hammers and shit, but i really dug it. Almost the most satisfying feeling in the world peeling a layer of metal on a lathe...
I'm a district manager for a oil/gas emissions company. We scrub H2S gas(bad bad gas 1 smell of it and you're dead) with chemicals. It's a cool job, but i'm looking for something different it was more of a resume buff then a career.
Was working construction as a concrete/framing hand currently joint the Air Force going into special missions aviation
I'm a career firefighter.
I have a couple side jobs that keep me busy as well:
Industrial Rescue
Tractor Trailer Driving
Residential Home Care (lawn, snow removal, etc)
Started my 3rd year roof-tiling apprenticeship at the start of 2016 but ended applying for a drilling position at the mining company close to my city so I've opted out to finishing up my trade sometime in 2018 or 2019 and just stick to my current job. The pay is amazing, hours are shit though.
nice nice, whats the hourly wage for the drilling position like 35-40 ish a hour? just don't leave it too long to finish your trade because after a certain amount of time your training will become invalid, happened to me i use to be a apprentice heavy duty diesel mechanic(2nd Year) i quit, went and did other work for about a year and a half then when i went to continue it at a different workshop i was told i had to start from scratch so i thought fuck that.
Thank you for the support man really appreciate itgoodluck in the air force mate, i have a friend who just went to join the army won't be home for like 4 years i think, he says he is loving it.
sounds like you have a busy life there @Ardy

I'm on around $160,000 a year after taxes. And the apprenticeship I don't have to worry about since I'm doing it with my cousin, so I can always fall back on it whenever.![]()
Thank you for the support man really appreciate it
damn nice salary where are you from? australia?
