What is your favorite book?

Out of curiosity, what is everyone's favorite book/novel/play/piece of literature? Something that has aroused your interest and piqued your curiosity.

Personally a novel I very much enjoyed reading was "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut.

 

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

 

I've got to say the Harry Potter series. Even though it's not fantastic writing or anything; I started reading them in.. probably 2002. They got me in to books and reading as a young kid so I have to thank them for that. The fact that the story lasted 7 books is pretty remarkable as well.

 

I used to absolutely love the "Hatchet" series as a kid. I haven't had a chance to read them again in years but I remember reading them over and over in my teens.

 

Lord of the Flies by William Golding...FANTASTIC book.

Grendel by John Gardner, also fantastic.

 

I dont really have time anymore to read lengthy books, but god i used to love reading as a kid. There was this one series i absolutely loved in middle school but could never remember the title of the book all i got was the collection of (i think there was 3) books were called Griffon or the Griffon trilogy not sure :/, if anyone has info pleasee share with me lol itd be a dope nostalgia trip rereading it.

 

As Roary said above, I have the Harry Potter series to thank for getting me into reading more books.

My favorite book would be 'The BFG' by Roald Dahl, awesome book I read back when I must have been 9 or 10..

Probably Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie

 

Cat's Cradle was good, but my favorite non-fiction is The Great Shark Hunt by Hunter S. Thompson and for fiction it is probably Grimscribe by Thomas Ligotti.

 

Really? I've only watched a few of the movies but I don't really understand the hype around it. But out of all the fine pieces of literature over hundreds of years, you think Harry Potter takes the cake?

 

I have to agree. Harry Potter is meh at best and at it's worst it is a step above fan fiction. For me it is just too childish. There isn't anything deeper going on in it, but it has a huge following for some reason.

 

Lots of classics. One more recent book (series) that I enjoyed was Eragon, but I haven't taken the time to really read any books in quite some time unfortunately.

 

The Cherub series is the only series of book that I have read fully and really enjoyed. I would recommend it to anyone between the ages of 13 and 20

 

I read a book named The Kite Runner, but i don't think it is better than the film, maybe cause i just read it after watching the film .Do you like it?

 

Had to read this for school. Was quite a good book. The movie was a bit of a disappointment.

 

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, closely followed by A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, which is better known as A Game of Thrones.

 

Always been partial to Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

 

Robinson Crusoe was pretty good when I first read it, didn't expect i'd go that far and finish it up as I am a lazy ass nigga.
