Account hacked..

Hope this is the right forum for this but this account was just unlocked after a ban.

I usually just log in maybe 10 times a year and generally never post here as I don't sell or buy anything here any more but earlier this year I found my account banned and when I digged deeper, someone had somehow gained access to my account and posted stuff about selling accounts in September.

I admit my old password (changed now) wasn't very complicated but there is no way someone could just guess it. Also none of my other accounts have been hacked.

I want to know how this could happen as the most likely explanation is that someone working for this site who has access to that data saw an old account thats mostly inactive with a clear record and decided to steal it and start scamming on it.

I have never in my life been hacked before.. and it seems extremely unlikely that someone just happened to pick exactly my Sythe account which I almost never use anyway and leave my runescape, mail, bank, and other accounts completely untouched.

 

Sythe used to have data breaches back before my days (before 2016) so that might be it. Regardless there were no recent data breaches, or none that staff is aware of, therefore your easy-to-guess password was most likely already known thanks to old breaches. However, your Sythe account is your responsibility, therefore if you wish to make use of Sythe again you must refund your scam victims - which in this case is banned, so it'll go to community repayment funds. Feel free to carry on with this here: Dispute a Ban or TWC - you will be asked to provide proof of being hacked though.

 

What is considered proof? Someone has sold Runescape accounts using my name from August-September this year and has made several threads.

Oh and can I get whoever that was IP banned? I've never sold or bought anything through this site since 2012-2013 and have no plans to start but I don't want that person to just get away with it.
