What IS java?

[tj0kken]

I'm pretty much n00b when it comes to programming, DOS, java etc.. But I'm dying to learn programming

But what actually IS java? How do I make programms?

Java is a programming language that runs in a virtual machine to make it possible to run in any operating system. I would recommend the official Java tutorial (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/index.html). If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I believe that it's a type of coffee.

I hope your not serious?

Anyways...

Java is a computer programming language with a wide range of versatility. Since it utilizes a Virtual Machine it can run on many operating systems and other devices such as cellular phones. Java is the computer programming language that runescape is based in. It allows for web-based applications also known as "applets" and platform based applications such as standard EXE's.

Java is:
a) Coffee
b) A programming language in which Runescape was made (Don't you see the massive logo saying "JAVA"?

The ironic thing is, Java is a type of coffee, and Sun's symbol for Java is a coffee cup. Interesting isn't it?

Also, Java is a city in Indonesia (if I'm not mistaken, around that part), which gets hit by Earthquakes a lot.

@_3x6: No, you didn't.
